I know it is early on a Sunday morning but the factor that will prevent us hosting a Fitton home gane is likely not the lack of a Jumbotron but our facility folks refusal to allow parking on the baseball outfield.

BTW - Fitton is ADA compliant based on when it was built. Itâs not compliant if it was built new today but it was âbuiltâ 33 years ago. And contrary to whatâs been posted here a renovation does not require that the stadium be made 100% compliant to todayâs ADA requirements, just that a portion of the total budget be used to upgrade access. I think the number is 10% of total budget but not certain. There are all kinds of rules around the types of changes that require a corresponding ADA investment and Iâm not sure if a Jumbotron counts as one of those upgrades that triggers a corresponding ADA upgrade but if it does and it costs $2 million, weâd have to invest $200,000 in ADA upgrades. Thanx to xmassader for correcting my failure to read the submission deadline correctly. _____________________ My recollection of past ADA compliance conversation on this and the previous board is that one can make relatively inexpensive improvements to the stadium without causing ADA provisions to come into play, and these can be done piecemeal. IIRC, UMass circumvented ADA provisions when it constructed a new press box at McGurk by physically separating the new press box from the existing stadium. Similarly, if new light poles at Fitton are not physically attached to the stadium, then no ADA issue, regardless of the cost. Again IIRC, the potential ADA compliance issues at Fitton arose from proposals that would: a.) widen both sidelines (taking away the lowest rows of seats); b.) install seatbacks; 3.) substantially renovate/rebuild the press box on the south side; 4.) significantly reduce seating, e.g., the east stands, (because of the cost). Fixing antiquated locker rooms would not invoke ADA as the locker rooms are not physically integral to the stadium structure. A Jumbotron at one end of Fitton Field would not invoke ADA, as the Jumbotron is not directly connected to the stadium.
