Great to get that first win. I remember when Yeutter came on board that I thought he might be on scholarship because his highlight reel showed that he had some talent.
Great game for Austin Butler with 7-11 from the field and 11 rebounds--wonder if that will quiet the dissenters for a day or two??

Verbeek played tough all weekend. Not just a tall skinny kid; wouldn’t let anyone push him around. Just needs to get more confidence.

if you had told me a month ago that Verbeek would be taking Faw's and Niego's minutes, would've demanded whatever you were smoking.

Faw took a bad three from the top of the key that missed badly, which led to HCBN immediately pulling him. I don't think he saw the floor for the rest of the game.

Congratulations to the Basketball team on its first win of the season! Makes the trip out west a lot more palatable. Missed the entire game while out snow blowing and shoveling. Came in and turned on WEEI to hear Dick L giving the team stats involving baskets made. Thought to myself, based on what I just heard HC must have won! Then he gave the final score verifying that they did indeed win! So happy for the team and coaches! Keep the improvement going! !

Without today's game added in yet, he is at or near the bottom on the team in nearly every efficiency and advanced stat calculated by Sports Reference: www.sports-reference.com/cbb/schools/holy-cross/2020.htmlImagine if after every poor game, the "dissenters" and "haters" came on here and said it should quiet the pom-pom wavers? Oh my!

Still very early, but most of Butler's offensive numbers are down from last year. However, his rebounds are way up - about 8 per 40, with a 17% DR%, second only to Pridgen. I do like those two guys together on the court.

After they pulled ahead by 10, the team seemed to be playing a more self-controlled style of play. It was as if they relaxed and let the game flow through them. If they can stay confident, focused and relaxed when they take the court from now on, it does bode well for the PL season. Not expecting miracles, but I thought the last 12 minutes showed the type of play this team can show and I hope to see (and look forward to seeing) more of that.

We were 0-7! No one was playing well. Why does it matter what Butler's stats were before today. Today he had a great game, and we also won. Enjoy it

Maybe they just needed to relax a bit, rely on the hard work that they've been putting in, and trust their hoop instincts. I expect they'll have a pleasant flight home - if they can get out. I've been in touch with two different people today heading for Logan - one in Florida and the other in California. Each is sitting and wondering if they'll get out any time soon.

Congratulations to Coach Nelson and the team for a great effort today. Very happy Nelson's first win came against a D-1 opponent. Really good contributions from a lot of players with great games by Pridgen and Butler. I asked yesterday whether Reilly or Yeutter was the back up point I guess we now know. Credit to EFG who last year touted Yeutter as a better than average walkon player. I will second that. Hopefully, the first of many.

Oh my! "pom-pom wavers": too funny! Right--anyone who does not criticize Butler's every move and suggest he's a D-3 player, or bench guy at best, is an unrealistic pom-pom waver who thinks AB is the next John Havlicek. There's no room on the spectrum in between those two points of view where people think he's a very good player who, like every player, does have some bad plays or bad games.

Coach was interviewed before the game (for halftime) and said he is waiting to be evaluated once the team returns home - he really has no idea what the extent is and it was hard to see when the injury occurred during the game (someone suggested here, I think that he had a hip injury in h.s. that was aggravated)

He collided pretty hard on a drive, stayed the game, but after the next possession he was on the floor, mostly off camera.

Best bet would be to find out now that the flight is cancelled and stay in a hotel, rather than waiting in the terminal for 10 hours
