With any change organizations become fearful and concerned about changes. Not sure what this change will bring to that special group, but unlike many here I was not a fan of the good Father.
Yes it is. Some local diehards put up a fuss about changing the traditional name they and their ancestors played under but then a Native American spoke up about using his ancestors as a mascot and that sealed it. I really haven't noticed if Red Gals has changed to Red Hawks also but that would be the gracious way to go.
Natick made the exact same nickname swap...only difference was no one ever called their girls teams Red Gals. Sutton has gender based nicknames, the Sammies and the Suzies

Sammies and Suzies are non controversial names and helpful to the reader to know which Sutton basketball team just beat which Hopedale team, boys or girls. With names like Ryan and Riley and Sidney sometimes you have to read three paragraphs before you know which gender the teams are.
I wonder what year the term "Lady Crusaders" faded away - perhaps when Bob Fouracre hung up his microphone.
