Tomorrow is "Two Buck Tuesday" (Taco not included) at the Hart. Refunds for pre-paid season and single game ticket holders will be available on the 12th...of never. Let's hope the Williams College debacle against a more talented RW team can not be repeated against lower level D-3 UMB. Ideally it will be a way for HC to smooth out wrinkles and get work in on set plays with precise spacing, etc.

I was at that Williams game. They had a very talented big and a tremendous guard, Mike Crotty, who coaches the top Boston AAU team today. I am partial to Mike as he played for my hometown team, Belmont (MA) high school.

Went to get two tickets online and $4 became $8 with fees. Going to hope it’s not a sellout and get them at the door.

Let's hope the Williams College debacle against a more talented RW team can not be repeated against lower level D-3 UMB. Very big difference. Williams that year was the #2 D3 team in the nation and the defending national champs. Massey's imperfect all-divisions computer model ranked Williams ahead of HC by a fair margin in the final ranking for 2003-04. That game was an upset, but certainly not a big one. In contrast, UMass Boston is currently ranked 114th in D3 and lost by 43 points to UMass-Lowell. HC should win easily.

I believe that this game will not officially count in our won/lost record. Since it is a Division 3 opponent I believe it is classified as an "exhibition" which may be a good thing this year for us.

Not true. It is an official game for HC. UMass-Boston has the option to treat it as an exhibition game however, and they are doing so. Thus HC should come out of the game with a win, while UMass-Boston won't have a loss. I am not a big fan of a rule that allows a game to count for one side while it doesn't count for the other side.

Kind of. While HC will count the win/loss and all stats from the game, I think things like RPI only count games against D-I opponents

There were five future NBA players on that roster. Without looking up Ohio State's roster, name them.

Herb Williams, Clark (Special K) Kellogg, Granville Waiters (think he was a freshman and didn't play much).
Now, it gets tougher: Jim Smith (another big guy). And I'm going to take a wild guess at #5 and say Kelvin Ransey, even though I don't remember him in the NBA and the only other guy I remember on the team was Todd ? Penn, and he was good but no pro.
Of course, I'll comment later after I look these guys up. Worst case, I passed w/a 60% score.

An official game for HC that is. Not a real game at all for UMass-Boston, and it won't be found in their W-L record.

This is a game with no more upside for Holy Cross than the Assumption scrimmage. My only hope is that none of our guys get hurt.

This is a game with no more upside for Holy Cross than the Assumption scrimmage. My only hope is that none of our guys get hurt. The upside is that they couldn't find anyone else to come to Hart this week and wanted a game - preferably a home one. Other than that, not much. In terms of Assumption, there is something to be said for going up against someone other than your teammates. The coach gets to do some experimentation in real game conditions that he might not risk in a real game. I like the preseason exhibition
