If a new coach went to HC and won 80% of his games, we’d be drawing at least 2500 per. Would love to be alive to be proven right some day.

92, you're much more likely to live long enough to see your prediction come true than some of us. But, for sure, your kids will see it come true! (Pretty sure Nelson will be gone by then, no doubt coaching Florida to a national championship.)

I heard St, Mary's wanted Krikorian to replace Randy Bennett as head coach, but Krikorian turned it down because he didn't want to coach in McKeon Pavilion...... On my multiple ventures to the East Bay Area, I have visited Moraga and the St.Mary’s campus. The former McKeon Pavillon is far from luxurious, I was underwhelmed regarding the building and it’s facilities for training and sports medicine. The facility is dated and smaller than the Hart Center Arena and has not had a major upgrade since it was built in 1978. There are plan for expansion but St. Mary’s is still seeking funding. The name was changed from McKeon to the University Credit Union Pavilion in 2019. I did enjoy stopping by former HC basketball team member, Eric O’s hometown of Orlinda, CA, which is next door to Moraga CA. Fellow West Coast Conference member, Santa Clara on the other side of the bay has a nicer basketball facility in the Leavey Center. I am sure that Coach Krikorian is familiar with Mt. St. James as he is an Auburn MA native. Anyone familiar with his playing career in High School?

Isn't that more important? I understand tickets to Gaels games have been a hot item in recent years. Isn't that better than a few hundred rattling around a large new Palace that cost half a school's endowment to build? Crowds filled the Worcester Auditorium to watch good basketball, not to be able to see the whole court.😂

Last week, I was at a game at D-I U Lowell (aka UMass Lowell). Box score attendance was 242. Actual attendance was so small, I counted and it was less than 100. In fact, I'd say that combining all the event staff(players, coaches, officials, refs, cheerleaders, and band) added up to more people than fans at the game. FWIW, they have two facilities. This game was at the old one, which I would rate at below average compared to its former D-II peers. The new one is nicer aka Lowell Tech?😊 My next door neighbor was the captain of the hoop team there before it merged w/Lowell State. Wonder which of the two schools the gym came from if it's old?

Not much D1 basketball competition in the East Bay for the fans to watch live, other than Cal Berkeley and the University of the Pacific.
Regarding winning on contending in the PL, that would depend if they were subjected to the AI and its impact on recruiting. Would they or could they still recruit extensively in the land of Oz? Not sure they would be getting the players from Australia.

The AI has struck me as nervous near Ivies hoping to become nearer Ivies, or at least connected to the Ivies someway somehow even as it makes the league less competitive. Not that I really understand the AI. One of many subjects that makes my brain fog over.

Time to create a Catholic or Jesuit conference and change the world of college sports So much better than being a very lite Ivy League grouping
Money at Gtown has a meeting next week with Leonsis and one other to make a move for football
Being creative and outside the box what are the possibilities?
What might that mean for us?

I believe the school now owns Tsongas. My sense of the "old" building it's not that old, just older than recently acquired Tsongas. My sense is that if it pre-dates the merger, it's not by a lot

Are you talking about swapping out Lehigh and Lafayette for Sacred Heart and Fairfield? Army and Navy for LaSalle and Manhattan? Duquesne for Bucknell with a St. Francis or two to be named later? Why would the Catholic Schools in the Big East leave? Doesn't HC have a great gig in PL football with practically a deeded right of way to the NCAA when we have a good coach? Sounds exciting but more details needed.

I doubt GTown would ever make a move except where football is concerned.

In a more perfect world, the Jesuit schools of GTown, HC, BC and Fordham would form the basis of some sort of athletic conference with other like-minded schools like Nova, PC, St Joe's etc filling in the balance of the league.
Unfortunately, we don't live in that world.
Be interesting to hear what comes out of those meeetings though...keep us posted efg.

What might that mean for us? Wonder what Ted has up his sleeve regarding football. Maybe finishing Cooper Field, endowing several coaching positions, underwriting a move by the team to Audi Field? He certainly has enough coin to move several dials simultaneously. Maybe he would be interested in contributing to a small Jesuit institution in his home state of Massachusetts. Leonsis Stadium at Fitton Field has a nice ring. 🤔😊. Monumental could also become a major corporate sponsor of the Patriot League regarding branding and image or underwriting NLI for the league. The possibilities are endless with an active and creative imagination.

Fact, no need to research..... Silly....if a coach actually did really care so much about a facility in making a decision to jump up to D1.....well, in the view of Douglas C. Niedemeyer, he would be worthless and weak, and would be asked to drop and give him 20.

I had never heard of Christopher Newport University In the 1960's I lived in Va Beach for several years--maybe 10 miles from Newport News--and I never heard of CNU. A friend of mine started to revive the school-Former Cong Paul Trible Started out as to serve as a school to fill the void for students in SE Va hoping to attend W& M

The final two minutes of today’s game is the hundredth-something example of Nelson being over his head.

“Is Nelson ‘ovah his head’?” I think we had the answer to this question 16 pages and 2+ yrs. ago but, as Class of 1983 suggested, it is unlikely that TPTB will move on before March of 2023 (if then). Does any poster honestly think that HCBN will turn the program around to be a +.500 team? a consistent PL regular season and tournament championship contender? Do TPTB? If not, then, we may as well move on now and jump start the next rebuild. If so, I’d like to hear the explanation.

Unable to retain four recruits in his first two classes clearly shows there is something wrong with this program.
The program is arguably in a worse spot now than when Nelson found it.
Nelson has five scholarship spots to fill by next season. I have zero reason to believe he's going to be successful at doing that.
Time to move on and start over (again).
