Watching the Stanford - St. Jose State Basketball game. At the beginning they noted the head coach of each team. The San Jose State coach brought back bad memories. ☹️
Last I knew he was an assistant coach, at Colorado.

Better re-title this thread to Jean Bleeping Prioleau.
Despite the heartache, he’s a good dude and I’m happy he finally got a head job. He paid his dues.

I purposely left out his middle name. Did not want to be censured but the Dean. 😎

Prioleau was hired in July of 2017 after Wojcik resigned under duress for conduct issues. Unfortunately their record since he took over is 11-61. If things don't improve soon, he may be an assistant coach by next year.

I'm missing the connection to this guy. Was he the Fordham coach who refused to play HC and discontinued the series?

OK, just read the story and watched the video. Time to "let it go," guys.
It was one of the seminal moments of my four years.
Quick background: HC hosted the (inaugural) PL tournament... which is why we're wearing purple at home, and Fordham is on the usual HC bench (they were the #1 seed).
HC had to win the late semifinal on Friday night, game didn't end til after 11pm... the final was at noon the next day for ESPN. Spring break started that Friday, so everyone was heading out of town, but obviously a bunch of people hung around for the final.
I was a freshman and going home to NY for break... my father was driving up to get me on Saturday, I called after the Friday game and told him to come early, and bring my kid brother, so we could go to the game and then drive home.
We had a great look at Prioleau's release, like him I thought it was off to the left. Obviously, it wasn't. My 7-yr old brother cried for about half the ride home.
Years later, my dad took my kid brother to Fordham's basketball camp, and somehow ended up in Macarchuk's office... where he had a giant framed picture of this shot. My dad made a comment about being at the game, and Macarchuk said "yeah, that was a totally broken play, ended up working out".
Both my dad and brother are gone now, but this game was a classic that we still talked about years later. So, I will not let it go, thank you very much.

Does anyone think BC fans gives a care about Jack Lentz in '66 anymore? Think Princeton football fans are still stewing about our last second kickoff TD return? What about Robert Champions fall away 3 to tie the game for an eventual upset win? Look forward, not backwards. Let it go, NAD, it'll help your blood pressure and maybe you'll sleep better.

That Friday night semifinal game that Ray alluded to gets overlooked. It was a classic. OT featured a poor man's version of the Larry Bird-Dominique Wilkins NBA playoff duel, thanks to Jim Nairus and Lehigh's Bob Krizansky. Went back and forth until BK fouled out.

I'm missing the connection to this guy. Was he the Fordham coach who refused to play HC and discontinued the series? The Fordham Coach that stopped the HC series was Derrick Wittenberg. Coach Wittenberg is famous for his shot in the 1983 NCAA finals against Houston that fell short that Lorenzo Charles grabbed to win against Phi Slama Jamma. Of course, Wittenberg claimed it was a pass to Lorenzo Charles. Last week there was an ESPN 30 for 30 episode about that NC State team and Jimmy V. Prominently mentioned was Wittenberg played for Morgan Wooten at DeMatha. Coach Wooten was suppose to take over coaching at NC State, but turned down the job to stay at DeMatha. If Coach Blaney had been able to work the DeMatha pipeline, can you imagine how successful HC basketball would have been? Next time I see you, I will share with you a story about Jimmy V and a couple of HC connections. As we all know, all roads lead to the “Hill of Pleasant Springs”. 🤗

We actually recruited Sydney Lowe (NC St), Bob Ferry (Harvard) , Percy White (Western Ky)and a number of others Morgan had put us in a lower category for his kids once Brooks worked his magic to reduce the basketball profile
Billy McGregor did the same for football as Morgan was the AD

I saw Nick Macarchuk and his wife 30-60 minutes after the game ended.
His wife practically had to carry him out of the Hart Center, he was so worn out. And his team won!

For those of us that are New Englanders, we never let anything sports related go. In the church hall after Mass yesterday, I was forced to correct poster Class of 83 for his improper pronunciation of a certain former Yankee shortstop with a corked bat. I did not use the word that is also missing in the title of this thread, but the point was made. And that guy earned hatred 15 years before Jean f#$%ing Prioleau

I guess Effin' Bucky put a Dent in the Red Sox season that year. And, in 2003 Sawx down 3-0, a great comeback sweep to beat my beloved Yankees and move on to their first WS championship in forever. Boston has been the most successful team (along with SF) of the 2000's. Forget the cork(?). Enjoy the ride. Enjoy the drama of the game and the game itself. LoveHC True, if success is measured solely by World Series wins. Boston is third in total wins in the 2000's, so combining that mark with the four titles makes a good case. SF, however, has only averaged 83 wins a season, so I definitely wouldn't count them as the second most successful. The two teams with the most wins over the 20 years, btw, are the Evil Empire (no surprise) followed by St. Louis. Both have FAR more wins than the Giants, and both won two championships in the 2000's. I would place those two in second and third place. The Dodgers are fourth in total wins, but their failure to win even one championship counts against them.
