By my calculation, there is still one more roster spot open ..... Is it right to assume they still have a schollie left after the last second decommit from the db in Cal?

By my calculation, there is still one more roster spot open ..... Is it right to assume they still have a schollie left after the last second decommit from the db in Cal? No way to really know. It's possible the coaching staff knew about the de-commit well before yesterday. The recruit had removed all mention of a Holy Cross commitment from his Twitter page some weeks ago and there were posts that made it obvious he was shopping for other offers. But if the de-commit really was last-minute, it's possible that a schollie or a partial schollie is still available. If so, with one roster spot open, I would not be surprised to see another recruit added to the list later this month.

Breezy, are you including the return of Kevin Bucceroni to the program in your scholarship count?

Yes. The current roster posted on the HC website includes 72 players (and Bucceroni is one of the 72). With the PL roster limits of 90 recruited players plus 3 walk-ons -- a total of 93 -- that leaves 21 open spots. We have 20 recruits announced today. (And I believe that the 72 names on the current roster includes 3 walk-ons.)
Of course, HC may be out of schollies, or perhaps might choose to hold whatever it may still have in terms of scholarships for next year. But if HC still has a whole or partial schollie left and there is a player out there not yet committed but worth pursuing, we might see one more player added to this class. (There are at least three players out there who made a recruiting visit to HC and who as of 3:00 PM today have not yet committed to any school; one is a long shot but there's no way to know what the other two might do.)

One more picture from Twitter: The many Red Sox fans who visit this board may be interested to know that Benedictine Military School is the alma mater of Ken "Hawk" Harrelson

FYI- Ifeatu Melifonwu from Grafton stuck with Syracuse after all.
Heard our friends in C-Hill have the next-to-last rated class in the ACC.

One more: I hope everyone other than the kid himself is standing...or we have recruited another Randy Trivers (not that he wasn't a decent ballplayer).

Perhaps they went for speed and agility? Or, the best RBs available?

is it true that we still do not have a legit power running back ? only listed rb recruit--5'10" 185 why ? why ? Likely for the same reason we don't have a fast 6'2 PG with a tight handle who can pass & shoot, or an athletic 6'6 Wing who can run, jump, and shoot in every basketball class. These players don't grow on trees, and it's very difficult to find someone who is at the right level for us and who won't get stolen by someone from a higher level, like what happened with the RB who flipped to Stanford at the last second last year. If we can get better and more accurate Quarterback play, short passes where we are getting the ball to Cozier in space can be just as effective (with more upside for big plays) than trying to jam the ball up the middle. And sure, it also wouldn't hurt if Miles Alexander reported to his Sophomore Fall camp with 20 lbs of muscle added to his frame.

not looking for one in every class, just one in 4 classes you do not make those explanations(excuses ?) for CBC's recruits does not some of our competition recruit power backs ?

We still have one more recruit to go -- and I would not be surprised if it turns out to be a RB. Let's say 6' tall, 200 pounds (and runs a 4.55 in the 40). Or am I just dreaming?

It really does need to be. Maybe we need to find a diamond in the rough who can develop. Definitely need a power back at some point.

By the way, did anyone notice that our K/P recruit kicked a 53-yard FG during his HS career?
The HC record is a 49-yarder.

(A) Recruiting to HC Football is more difficult than recruiting to HC Basketball. (B) TG has still recruited players who can be productive, get on the field, stay in school, etc.

I understand your guys argument for another RB but considering our lack of success and the fact we throw the ball 55% of the time even when we are down to our 5th string freshmen walk on QB, I'm not sure adding an 8th RB to the roster is the way to go. HC is who it is at this point, we throw the ball. We need to take the talent we have and use it properly. We have athletic RBs but we don't use them or take advantage of them in the passing game at all. We need more WRs who are explosive since we are a pass heavy team. Adding a bruiser to our offense won't help us unless we change our offensive identity a lil bit or even a lotta bit...
