I certainly will refrain henceforth from responding to recruits or their relatives who post here. I'm simply expressing my disagreement with the overreach of many NCAA regulations.

Believe that I have finally found the elusive first committed recruit for 2017, the unidentified defensive player from Massachusetts. This from a MassLive article from a few weeks ago: Benton Whitley, Minnechaug, LB Senior outside linebacker forced teams to run away from him last season, as he compiled 79 tackles, 13.5 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks in the season. His strength, quickness and instincts make him one of the toughest defensive players in Western Mass. to face. An All-AA Conference and MassLive Starting 24 selection. Committed to Holy Cross. The entire article can be found here: highschoolsports.masslive.com/news/article/-3887142952070812698/western-mass-football-super-7-2016-six-seniors-and-one-junior-make-list/

It's striking that there has been so much discussion about how HCTG has held the program back, with so little mention of H.C.'s ( brand determined ) position in recruiting. If there were an objective quantitative way to compare H.C.'s success to its peers in recruiting, in-game coaching and results, I think we'd add meaningful insight into the discussion about the future with or without HCTG. I'd suggest that whoever is responsible for recruiting the class of 2021 and beyond, the capacity of the H.C brand ( package ) to bring in the right recruits has a greater impact than most posters on this board are willing to admit. H.C. is good. But, it's going up against some very stiff competition, which also have positive current trends.

You got me searching online, I found this site....you can change the recruiting year back to the early 2000s I believe. Quickly perusing, there seemed to be a lack of HC recruits (and I know we only go back 4-5 years). www.scout.com/a.z?s=395&p=9&c=4&yr=2015Again, point being, we should be getting more local recruits (for a variety of reasons) out of the Catholic Conference in Mass. (Xaverian, BC High, St John's Prep, Catholic Memorial etc), as well as some of the other better public, parochial and prep school football programs in the Bay State. We are a great level (FCS) and great destination for a lot off these kids imo.

Unfortunately, we would benefit from BC being better at football, as there is currently very little gap between New England academic kids that we'd be interested in and who they're offering.

Not a bad point caro....I still am of the belief though that we have largely (not completely) abandoned Massachusetts as a recruiting area for a variety of reasons....when HC was good: Carter/Duffner era and before, the HC rostah had more than a few good Massachusetts players.
Call me a conspiracy theorist, but it seems like the football rostah undah Gilmore is heavily "non-Massachusetts (or Northeast)" to help the school's geographic diversity.

It's crazy who BC is recruiting - kids no Power 5 school should be. And that is why they will only get worse going forward.

Gilmore apologist.....there are just as many potential HC football recruits in Massachusetts, New England, Northeast as there were in 1986....that your guy largely can't either recruit with scholarships or coach them if he gets them here, is the s**t sandwich we've all been eating for far too long.

Don't forget......the potential recruits who couldn't get through Admissions and the potential recruits our coaches don't bother to pursue because they believe the kid couldn't get through Admissions. I'm not an apologist for TG, but the results of our recruiting reflect the impact of Admissions.

We should be getting a kid or two out of Xaverian most years imo..... Does Xaverian produce multiple D-1 players each year? Where have they been going? One was playing for Michigan today- Maurice Hurst, Jr. (Sr. played for the Pats). Several other sons of Pats players have played for that program: Hasselbeck, Fox, Wilfork (or his stepson), Tippett.
