I would say QB is wide open for next year. I also wouldn’t be shocked if we took another transfer if the right one becomes available.

Would like to see the QB under center and utilize play action, quick hitters, dinks and dunks, jet sweeps etc., to open up longer passes and the running game. Intelligent HC players should be able to master offense from both the shotgun and under center.

After the first 3 games, we scored 20 or more points every week. Seems as though the OC did OK Maybe we would have scored 30+ with a better OC (and QB). What changes would you have made? Thanks.

Maybe the HC & OC are watching the LSU-Oklahoma game to get offensive ideas. Hope.

Do you feel his blockers may have had a role in that as well?

Peter Oliver is not slow by any means. From his bio: "Tied the school record in the 55-meter dash (6.68 seconds)" in high school. That translates to a 4.44 40. I know that's a bit generous in that he started out of blocks instead of from a standing start and that he more yardage to employ his cruising speed. Still that's pretty darn fast and that was at age 17 or 18. Maybe he runs a 4.5 or 4.6 40. Check out his touchdown against Fordham at the link below--watch him outrun the Fordham defensive back. goholycross.com/watch/?Archive=541&type=ArchiveI agree with the guys above on Jordan Forrest--I think he could be a special back. We would have seen a lot more of him if Dom had not been so outstanding and so durable. There is absolutely no way that Oliver is anywhere close to a 4.5... Silva run a 4.52 for comparison.

The statement is "20 or more points", not "averaged 20 points". In fact, we did score 20 or more points each of the last 9 games and averaged 29 points per game in that period. I think we had 2 or 3 defensive touchdowns, but the offense did score at a decent clip. The offense averaged 22.8 PPG, which was good for 88 of 124 teams. Take out the two FBS games and the offense averaged 26 PPG, which would have been 67th nationally (note: this is with other team’s PPG factoring in games against FBS opponents.), which is still in the bottom half of FCS. I agree with breezy that this isn’t all on OC Murphy. He didn’t create this offense by himself and isn’t solely responsible for coming up with the offensive game plan each week. Chesney is, obviously, heavily involved. As I have said, our offense and play calling this season was a bit handcuffed due to the personnel at QB. Even with that said, I thought the offense was very unimaginative, overly conservative, and didn’t do a good job getting the ball to our most skilled offensive weapons. A new OC would advance the offense, IMO. We can't be serious about entertaining another year of this. haha. Have we landed a legit dual threat QB yet?

His family is friendly with the Fennerty's He's already had a red shirt year. Will that effect whether he has to sit out a year upon transfer or whether he will have two full years of eligibility at HC? He presumably has enrolled for the next semester at LSU. That would mean he will have completed three academic years at LSU, and would have to repeat an academic year at HC for a total of two years of matriculation if he were to transfer in. The larger point is that he is the #2 QB behind a graduating senior, and he was one of two QBs that LSU used in its win against Oklahoma. (If there was a third QB, he had no stats.) Why would he leave?

Because Fatam Breaston said so? Actually I was wondering if a student athlete can play four years of eligibility over six years of school but just realized no sit out year would be required because he would be transferring down from FBS to FCS.
