And then there were 2, JMU-NDSU....which most people would have predicted in August. Two semifinal blowouts by both squads. The game isn't until next Saturday 1/11 at noon on ABC.
A hearty few remain here...probably going to need a tiebreaker, so we'll go with picking the winner and by how much they win by....Price is Right rules in effect (closest without going ovah)

Gotta go with my daughter's Dukes.
By the way, it's $100 a ticket for that game. Wonder what the LSU/Clemson face value price is.

Doesn't it seem like we played a lifetime ago?
Hard to believe these two teams are still practicing football today....

Like Clemson and LSU, doubt there are many complaints!
OT- BC hired the JMU coach's brother as offensive coordinator.

The process is ridiculously LONG imo....but it probably only realistically effects about 5-10 FCS programs most years.
For college football in general, I think no more than 3 games, 8 teams should evah be involved in a playoff system. Logistically impossible to do now at the FCS-level I know....but in a sane world, that would be your format.

Logistically impossible to do now at the FCS-level I know....but in a sane world, that would be your format. The length of the FCS playoffs has truly only affected one team in the entire time since the field expanded in 2010. Since then, Youngstown State is the only school to play in 5 playoff games, including the final. Every other team to make it to Frisco did it with a first round bye. This alone proves that the field is over-expanded. There IS an NCAA rule mandating that the number of at-large bids must be equal or greater to the number of automatic bids for any national tournament across all sports. So without a rule change, the minimum size of the FCS playoff field would be 20 (10 auto, 10 at-large). The D-3 tournament has 32 teams. I liked the 16 team field. If possible, just take the 10 conference champs and 6 best at-large, call it a day. Football should be the exception to the rule.

Ah, it's the North Dakota State Bowl time of the FCS season.
I wonder, at what point -- if it hasn't already happened -- to NDSU alums/fans and the FCS get tired and bored with what is happening. NDSU has won seven of the last eight FCS championships.
They'd honestly be better off foregoing the FCS playoffs and playing in a mid-tier FBS bowl game at this point.

Vaval, I think that you are projecting. I know some North Dakotans - they are quite proud of the team and interested in the game. Their rivalries with the two Montana State Universities and with Idaho generate great support and interest in the region every year. gobison.com/sports/football

Yes, of course they are proud of their team and interested in winning another championship, but I think it's fair to question / wonder if any of their fans think "is their something bigger out there for us?"

NDSU has won seven of the last eight FCS championships. They'd honestly be better off foregoing the FCS playoffs and playing in a mid-tier FBS bowl game at this point. I don't think there's any bowl game out there that doesn't have a committed conference participant (for example, in the lower bowls, MWC third place versus CUSA second place; etc.). There are some cases where there are openings; however, those aren't determined until the FBS season is over (a week or even two later) and the FCS playoffs have already begun and/or the teams selected. So, I don't see that sort of thing happening even though NDSU would be a more than worthy opponent. From what I can see, NDSU is pretty much original recruits and JMU is more reliant on FBS transfers. Some of these programs in all divisions just seem to do well year after year. For example, in D3, you have to go back to 1999 to find a finals that did not include Mount Union, Wisconsin-Whitewater or Mary Hardin-Baylor. And of those 20 finals, 2019, 2003 and 2004 are the only ones where those 3 schools weren't the winner.
