Don't want to get political but it's a disgrace if they shied away from BYU for religious reasons. Not a great tv market, etc., fine.

See this link for UCONN's presentation to the Big 12. Lots of stuff that will interest PP. There are some oddball things including an email from Mike Tranghese which says that Dave Gavitt was the force behind getting UCONN in the Big East way back in the day. uconn.edu/public-notification/big-12/

BYU cannot schedule any games, in any sport, on Sundays - so that would have been a scheduling & travel clusterf*ck from the get-go unless a FB-only membership was considered.

alum, thanks for the links.
Some interesting data in UConn's due diligence response.
UConn said for the football-only option, it would seek membership in the NBE for all other sports. However, there was minuscule discussion of this option.
The four Big 12 sports for which the Big 12 wanted detailed data on spending, salaries, attendance, etc., were football, M/W basketball, and baseball. Calhoun's highest salary (final year) was $2.3 million. Ollie is making $3 million this year. Over the past 10 years, Geno's salary has gone from $900,000 to $2.2 million.
A particular focus for the Big 12 appears to be media market(s), alumni base (and that portion of the base proximate to the school), alumni support.
The university is increasingly having to subsidize the athletic department. The direct university subsidy (excludes scollies) this year is about the same as the total HC athletic budget.
No mention of renovations to the rink. UConn does mention that half the M/W basketball games are played at the XL Center, half in Storrs.
Against a set of Big 12 'performance' benchmarks, UConn came in 10th in only two of the benchmarks, football coaches salary, and football staff salary. UConn fared pretty well against the other benchmarks, mostly ranked in the upper half.
Gavitt's reasoning for UConn in the OBE was 1,) state would support the school with resources; 2.) very large and enthusiastic alumni base.

What UConn does for those athletes who likely would have an AI score below the PL/.Ivy floor.
