This is a trend in College Baseball for coaches to go to the Minor Leagues.

This is very poor timing for this as I know Alabama opens practice tomorrow for example, so got to think Holy Cross opens tomorrow also.

We did lose good players last year (graduation and transfers) from the 22-32 squad and I think we're going to have a very tough season. This does not help.

Other than the insanity with the sacrifice bunting he seemed like a pretty good coach who brought some good players and some success to Fitton Field.

Credit to ADMB for naming the Assistant Coach the interim head coach for the full upcoming season. It strikes a good balance between the disruption caused by mounting a search for a new head coach right before the season begins and keeping all of Holy Cross' options open while being able to observe the interim head coach for a year. I understand it causes some uncertainty for recruits and their families but the promoted Assistant Coach was the recruiting coordinator and DiCenzo lasted twelve years, so it's not like there's anarchy in the program.
Plus, every national coaching search or contract buy-out that can be averted is one more chunk of change that can be spent on Holy Cross athletic teams. I like the "measure twice and cut once" approach in both baseball and WBB.

Maybe if he does well with Lake County, the Indians will move him up to the Lynchburg Hillcats or the Akron Rubber Ducks!! Gotta love minor league team names.

I wonder if Matt Blake had any role in connecting him to the Indians organization.

Single A baseball is on a lifeline anyways... so it is an interesting decision No it's not. This is an opportunity to join a MLB organization. Also DiCenzo is well-regarded by MLB scouts and cross-checkers for his ability to identify talent which could be his ultimate destination, not to mention this position is right near the the parent club, makes for a shorter work year, and puts him in a good position for organizational advancement.

Clock, any idea what a job like this pays? Likely ~65K if he's just working the 6 months of the season (free to do other work in the off-season); however being as close to Cleveland as he'll be, he may work year-round for the club and be paid as a year round employee.

Gotta love the creativity (not) of the Worcester Red Sox. Although the legitimacy conferred by the Red Sox name is valuable in these parts, I am sure.

Huge loss for HC athletics. Coach D is a class act and a great coach.

Yes, but I do like the one season audition. It's like how Bill Belichick usually requires an assistant to audition as a coordinator for awhile before being named a coordinator.

Baseball performed better than most sports at HC recently and I believe PP has listed figures showing HC spends less than other PL baseball programs. But Coach D did only win one championship in twelve years in a six team league.

HC sucked in baseball for a number of years before he came; if all HC's sports that fly under the radar screen showed that much improvement, people would be pretty happy.

How many scholarships can they give out for baseball? Another dumb patriot league rule?

He also had a shiny new stadium that Najarian didn’t have, right? Coach D was a pretty good recruiter and evaluator / developer of talent, which will go a long way in A ball. His in-game coaching definitely left a lot to be desired.
