Brendan Flaherty had a remarkable year in 2015, catching 106 passes for 1,002 yards and 12 TD's. The benchmark for a "big season" might well be half that many receptions.Beginning with the year 2000 Holy Cross has had 13 players (including BF) who caught as many as 50 passes in one season. Five players did so twice. Can you name the other 12 Crusaders who have caught 50 or more passes in one year since 2000?

I'll start with one of the most electric football players in program history: Ari Confesor.

I'll start with one of the most electric football players in program history: Ari Confesor. Ari Confesor is correct: 57 catches (721 yards and 9 TD's) in 2002 followed by 90 catches (1,213 yards and 9 TD's) in 2003

One name that doesn't immediately come to mind solely because of the position he played is Steve Silva, but fairy certain he had 50+ one season. It seemed like he touched the ball on 80+% of plays during his junior and senior seasons.

No 50 reception years for Hall or Green. I thought David Thompson would be difficult to guess. He is correct, having caught 50 passes for 594 yards and 5 TD's in 2000. Brett The Jet caught 56 passes for 727 yards abd 5 TD's in 2007. Jake is also correct with 50 on the nose in 2014 for 694 yards and 5 TD's. Ari C is already in the fold.
So we have five of the thirteen (Confesor, McDermott, Flaherty, Wieczorek, Thompson)

Your analysis is spot on: Steve Silva, our do everything back, did it twice: 60 receptions for 507 yards and 1 TD in 2004 and in 2005 he caught 54 for 364 and another TD.

Of 796 offensive plays run in 2005 (including punts), Silva touched the ball on 31.5% of them. That's a whole lot of touches.

My guess would have been Pete Kimener. But, in addition to "the catch" against BC, I found he had only about 55 catches in his HC career.

As you recall, Jack Lentz ran the ball far more than he passed it. I do indeed recall that. My point was that Pete's one great catch (and his dozens of others) made such an impression that I automatically thought of his senior season as 50+ catches. It is easy to misremember the past based on personal feelings and experiences. As an aside, I do wish it were as easy to access the archives as it once was.

Okay--let's add those players as well, although there will be very few. So it is "50 receptions in a season" ever.

From the Duffner/Carter era: Hull, Lewis, Gallagher, Lockbaum, Riley, Roman. Riley and Roman are kind of longshots, but the team was 11-0 and someone had to be catching a lot of passes.

Okay--great job Lee Hull--no Michael Lewis ---1989 51 catches 859 yards 10 TD ( look at the yards per catch!) Mark Gallagher--1990= 54, 672, 6 Gordie Lockbaum-- 1986= 57, 860, 8; 1987= 78, 1152, 9 Riley= no Mark Roman--1991= 50, 937, 11 (another with huge yards per catch)

Dave Quehl, mentioned earlier, had 62--801--6 in 1974 (I got to see most of those) and 63-959-5 in 1975
He was the first Crusader to catch 50 passes in one season
