In March 2018, Blake Verbeek took an unofficial visit to Georgetown.

Interesting tidbit. Does the basketball office at a college or university necessarily know if a high school athlete is on campus for an unofficial visit?

In all cases I am aware of it is well coordinated, even if initiated by the player

I wouldn't read too much into this - he was down there anyway for the NPSI tournament.

Is it possible we could have six 2020s?

Is it possible we could have six 2020s? I hope not. This is getting the feel of a soap opera with all the kids leaving. I hope the exodus is over

True, but I think it unlikely that he is a walk-on. It doesn't make sense to me that a kid would make arrangements for a post grad year, presumably in hopes of increasing his marketability for a scholarship, and then change gears to pay for college

With seemingly no scholarships left, we offered Montgomery in Nov 26. I guess it is possible, though highly unlikely, that the staff knew Lowder was leaving, It was debated here for 2-3 weeks about where the 4th scholarship was going to come from. Then on Dec 12 we offered Tyson Brown. More confusion here. Who is the walk on ? On Jan 14 it was reported that Lowder (who tweeted recently he had a 4.0 last semester) left the team. i do not see any other reasonable conclusion other than that Reilly is a walkon.

It is assumed now that Sandy is a walk on. I understand this is the consensus guess of most folks here. However, I have good reason to believe that he is on scholarship this year.
I suppose it's possible one or more guys who have scholarships this year may not have one guaranteed for next year. It's also possible that Copeland's situation has become resolved in a way that would open up another scholarship.
That we have offered one kid (Moses) and are flirting with another (Stevens) in the last couple weeks suggests to me Nelson has one or two openings still to fill.

Plus we have offered Montgomery and Brown

Maybe we offered Moses, because the other PF - Brown - let us know he wasn't coming or we're not willing to wait any longer for him to decide. Maybe we're on the cusp of offering the SG Stevens because we've reached the same impasse with the SG Montgomery.

Funny, I looked at the same facts and decided it was more probable that the coaching staff had a handle on what the players were thinking than a kid planning on PG suddenly deciding to pay for college

I think that Lowder is not paying.

To add to the volumes of speculation
Possibly Reilly qualified for enough financial aid, that it was worth the risk vs Prep School. Coming in he had a reasonable shot at minutes and if it worked he had a D1 opportunity. If it didn’t work he could demonstrate he played at a higher level.

I think that Lowder is not paying. If that was in reply to me, I was referring to Reilly opting to pay rather than PG
