This is the perfect metaphor as to the difference between Nate Pine and others. We always should have been at WCC and Nate made it finally happen. Cudos !

Where did they play before the WCC? They were at Pleasant Valley Country Club in Sutton for a while. Paul Harney was club pro for at least part of that time.

Blackstone National for last 10/12 years. This is a small but important (and dare I say decadent) move for HC Athletics.

Awfully short course for today's college golf though What? There's a LOT more than length to making a good course, whether it be for hacks, college players or professionals, and WCC is such. The winning score at the 3 round Mass Open this summer at WCC was -4. Want another example: Justin Rose's winning score at < 7000 yard Merion in 2013 was +1.

WCC is an excellent, fun course to play, and yes, you can trick it up for a Mass Open or other state tournament, but that's not the course they will practice on. I have not played there in a few years, but I expect the major draw is a better practice facility than Blackstone and closer. It will be interesting to see if they get better access than at Blackstone

Merion was my 'home' course growing up. Caddie friends and I would sneak on the course in the wee hours of the summer, though never playing holes near the clubhouse.
We'll have to wait another year or so to learn how much more HC is spending on golf.

agree the move to WCC in long overdue. it might not be a coincidence that WCC's head pro's daughter, Maddy Belden is a frosh on the HC girls team. an encouraging sign for improved results.

Swanky WCC is the new home course for the golf teams.
For those who may not know it - Worcester CC is one of only a handful of courses in the country to host the U.S. Men's Open, Women's Open, and the Ryder Cup.
I think Pinehurst (in 2014) became only the 2nd course to be able to claim this.
