A good look inside the IL transfer policy and how it effects men's basketball. As I read this I realize that HC with only undergraduate curriculum will never be able to get a grad transfer. Do we know that the Patriot schools with grad programs are prevented from recruiting grad transfers in all sports? I think that's the case. There's some very good talent from the IL that will be playing elsewhere in November (including Pat Benzan's sister who is sitting our her senior season at Harvard and is committed to Baylor for next fall).

The typical Ivy response from the commissioner. Head in the clouds .

Because they do not have a medical red shirt it is not unusual for an Ivy player to graduate and still have eligibility - that accounts for many of the players and their situations as described in the article.
(Pat's sister is a different case as she is healthy but is sitting to preserve a year that she will use after graduating from Harvard. Of course sitting does not affect her athletic scholarship at Harvard as Harvard does not have athletic scholarships. While it might drive her Harvard coach crazy, it is a rather clever maneuver by Pat's sister. )

/\ No doubt 'disloyalty' in terms of kids/coaches leaving teams (and the varied and unknowable circumstances therein) is a prickly construct. I remember when the very good Yale player took off for a year to travel with the Whiffenpoofs - must have driven the coach crazy (and no athletic schollie issue because there are no athletic schollies).

Fortunately they had good young guards and they haven't regressed significantly. 13-6 overall and 4-2 conference. Local kids, too, just like Ms. Benzan.
The pc Harvard rosters say First Year and Fy not Freshman.

I know one Ivy coach pretty well and she tells me that high turnover is just a fact of Ivy life (no schollies... older kid gets more serious about grad school.... kid drops off the team without repercussions...no drama...big roster...no problem recruiting more...) So it is no surprise there is virtually no letdown. Different world. Yale started their own "First Year" PC stuff about two years ago (for all kids - not just athletes) ...it'll be up at Mount Saint James shortly (kind of surprising it is not up there yet TBH)

Never been a shortage of local recruiting in HC WBB.
