Down 7-0, we start the inning with 2 hits, our guy rounds second too far and gets tagged out...sloppy running, and not smart Watching the replay the announcer said that the third base coach In error was waving the runner on to third so that may be why he rounded too far . Looked like a close call at the bag ,

The original Jack DiLauro was from Ohio and returned there after his MLB stint. Perhaps he had a son who moved to Connecticut where our Jack DiLauro hails from, but the geographic evidence for a connection is not strong. They do look a bit alike, but I should think he bio would list the connection if it is actual

For a first game, likely one of the few if any times outside, relief pitching and hitting were decent. Walks and errors, however, need to be addressed if they are going to have success this season

watched some of the post game comments on the SC site - very stark contrast in pitching speeds - the SC starter and one of their relievers' fastballs were clocked at 95-97 mph. When they asked the hr hitter about his 3 run shot in the first he said 'we're looking at mid 90's in practice here and it was nice to see 88 from them and put a good swing on it'. That's one of the obvious gaps you see in high and mid major college baseball - fastball speed -

Their home runs came from two post-grad transfers, both are starters. SC also has juco transfers. Plenty of talent

SC scored 5 runs in the first inning courtesy of 3 HC errors - but we came back in the 2nd with 3 runs - score 5-3 in the 3rd.

Lost 9-4 - loaded the bases in the 7th and 8th but did not score - for the 2nd day could not recover from a tough 1st inning but the team played well, save the early season defensive lapses which cropped up again today

Let’s see if they can improve backing up Dvorak tomorrow

Hopefully they can shore up the defense as they get more real game action . .

Rain in the forecast today - we probably don’t have a lot of time to wait out a delay with return travel plans - hope Dvorak gets a shot to pitch today

Maybe they should’ve looked at the weather forecast and pitched the ace on Saturday

Dvorak strikes out two more in the second. Pitch count is high. But he looks good. Time to get the bats going.

Hitters are chasing everything. I like Jordan's style, he just pitches quick. Doesn't waste time.
