Certainly a factor, but likely not the decisive one. Pridgen averaged 18.5 points, 5.5 rebounds - but also committed 7 turnovers, which didn't help his case. Per basketball-ref, he had an average ORtg of 90. Aldama had 13.5 points, 7.5 rebounds - 2 turnovers. Average ORtg, 105..
Aldama is also a big difference maker at the defensive end, which Pridgen - though solid - is not. (fwiw, Aldama's average DRtg was 90, Pridgen's 125).

FWIW Aldama's double-double (14 pts, 10 rebounds) yesterday in the close win (70-68) v Lafayette yesterday and 13 points 5 rebounds and 2 blocks in the close win (81-78) v Army on Wednesday were impressive. As was his shot- altering ability (yet only committed a total of 4 fouls in the two games).
(The 6'11 Aldama is second on the [15-14] team in scoring average [Kostecka leads] and first on the team in rebounding average. The team is 6-1 in his 7 games.)
There is no doubt that our very own Joe Pridgen scored 27 points and 9 rebounds in 40 (!) minutes in our 30-point blowout loss to Colgate (and 12 points and 2 rebounds in our 21-point loss to Bucknell Monday).

I think the voters more likely use their eyes. Pretty obvious to mine who is more of a factor defensively.

Pridgen had a poor game against Bucknell. 12 points on 6-10 shooting, 0-3 FT, only two rebounds, and zero assists to six turnovers.

Pretty obvious to mine who is more of a factor defensively. also obvious that Joe averaged 5 more ppg and 5.5 rebounds is pretty good for a small forward despite the turnovers, Joe was more of a factor offensively if we had won one, maybe joe gets it if we had won two games, he definitely would have received it

I think those who vote have probably taken notice what a massive difference Aldama has made to the Loyola lineup.
Loyola was 1-8 in the league before he began playing -- their one win was against HC, of course -- and are 6-1 with him in the lineup.
It wouldn't surprise me if Loyola won this league.

It's understandable Aldama is going to get the love at this point.....doesn't diminish what JP has done imho.
It we can't make another miracle run in March, I wouldn't mind seeing a guy like Kostecka (or a Max Mahoney or Saaeed Nelson) get a chance to appear on the big stage.

Kostecka changed his mind about coming here, and we offered/pursued both Mahoney and Nelson hard. To be filed under "what might have been . . ."

Very impressed with Kostecka on Sunday - he never pressed to score and really helped work the ball in to the big frosh down low. That kid (Golden Dike) is a beast and an obvious mismatch v the Laffy bigs down low and Laffy was reduced to fouling him almost continuously. Given the three outstanding (and now healthy) frosh this year Kostecka seems to know to look for the mismatches and hold off on the shooting a bit... and his perimeter defense on the Laffy 3's was even praised by the Laffy announcers.

Kostecka changed his mind about coming here, and we offered/pursued both Mahoney and Nelson hard. Which clearly means they're all horrible human beings with poor judgement for going elsewhere

Certainly not what I was suggesting - just wishing that we had been able to persuade one or more of them to come to Holy Cross.

Nope. They were all being recruited in the summer of 2015. Think the Luth was little more than a hole in the ground then.

Probably later in the day for 2019-20 all league recognitions- given the weekly awards are mid-morning instead of 1 pm-- but just a guess
