Folks are losing interest quickly. Perhaps worst season in program history. Hope the interest is regained if we can compete and turn this around in the coming years. But right now we are bottoming out....

Credit to the football team providing some needed juice to the building in the first half. Too bad we couldn’t sustain it when the score was 21-21. Just don’t have the horses. But it also doesn’t help our cause that the 3-point defense continues to be atrocious.

East Catholic CT Basketball boys here tonight. 7 of them sitting up behind HC bench.... Any prospects HC92? Yeah. Besides Matt Knowling, who is already committed to Yale 2020, he is sitting 5 feet to the left of Nelson. But Nelson thinks Reilly can't play. In a game predicated on the ability to hit 3 point shots, one of the great 3 point shooters in the state of Connecticut can't find his way back on the court. Off course, when he was playing, there was NEVER an attempt to get him open threes. Good idea to let Wade keep jacking up threes. See how many in a row he can miss. As Casey Stengel once said about Greg Goossen, "here's a guy, Goossen, 20 years old, who in 10 years has a chance to be 30".

To his credit, and not giving up, Joey Reilly was in the gym after the Lafayette game working on his shooting.
Glad to see he is sticking to his goal to be a better player.

He is in no position to share his insights, but they would be fascinating.

When was the last time a team won by 21 and did not make a ft ? we committed only 9 fouls and Buck was 0 for 4 (Newman missed all 4) The refs knew this was a disaster game and wrapped it up in 1 hr 40 minutes - my sentiments are with coach Nelson - he could not have imagined this train wreck

The Division 1 game is too fast for Reilly, which we clearly saw over the weekend against Lafayette. I can understand Nelson’s reluctancy to put him in. Interesting that you are pitting Ryan Wade against Joe Reilly. I don’t think that’s necessary. Reilly looks no more out of place than most of the rest of the team from an athletic standpoint. Why was he logging so many minutes earlier in the season. He played pretty well limited action. Harvard game comes to mind. He is shooting 58 % from the floor for the year. Granted, with limited shot attempts. I don't get Wade playing 40 minutes a game. He can't shoot. He is missing wide open shots all night. 30 % from the floor for the year. What is the point of CLS playing huge minutes. It makes NO sense. He is not any better than Reilly. Find out what Reilly can do when given some leeway. I would like to see him play 35 minutes in a game and see what would happen. The way to compete against better talent in today's game is with an up-tempo style relying on 3 point shooting. We are walking the ball up the court trying to force the ball inside. We need to play more guys and up the tempo. Remember, it was Nelson's decision to bring Reilly on in August. Either he is a terrible judge of talent or a terrible coach. He was always an undersized combo guard. That is what Reilly is. He is the type of player Rick Pitino was able to get the most out of. (Billy Donovan). They said the same thing about Donovan at Providence before Pitino got there. Too small, too slow. Right before he lead Providence to the Final Four in 87 under Pitino's coaching. I thought we were getting someone from that coaching tree. It doesn't appear we are. Nelson is certainly no Pitino/Donovan. They would find a way to win with what they had.

I guess we should steel ourselves for the probability that Reilly will be transferring after the season. Really hope things work out for him wherever he goes.

If Nelson thought Reilly could help us win, I’m sure he would play him.
Reilly played 21 minutes against Lafayette: three points, three turnovers, two steals, two fouls.
It’s not like Nelson is keeping Jimmy Chitwood on the bench.
Seems like you have it out for Nelson because he’s not playing Reilly, which is pretty strange. There are things to question Nelson on, but his usage of Joe Reilly isn’t one.

Need to bring in 6 new guys at least.
Watched some on CBS, Wade is awful. Can’t shoot or play defense but we have to play him 40 mins because we have no other options! Niego, Faw and Butler role players, best 15-20 per game.
3-29, wowie wow wow! We are below rock bottom!! Wish you the best Coach, from what I have seen in year 1, you have a loooooonnnnggggg way to go

I'm not Wade's biggest fan but his on ball defense isn't bad. Pridgen and Faw trying to do too much and both played out of control tonight resulting in numerous turnovers. I'm glad to hear that Nelson's excited about the incoming players, I hope and pray they are as advertised because I can't take much more of this kind of basketball.

FYI - Reilly is not a walk-on. My point is Nelson is not getting the most out of this team. Coaching scared. Hoping to keep the score close. If you guys want to give him a pass, go ahead. He needs to use more of his roster. I am just using Reilly as an example of the type of player he should be getting more out of. This is the Patriot league for god sakes. This is NOT big time college basketball. (We missed out on the Big East years ago)
