Is Merrimack now considered by parents a better choice than Holy Cross? The same question can be posed about Bryant, Sacred Heart and Quinnipiac? Have they now bettered us in athletics and applications? We only get 7000 apps. What does the aforementioned schools get in apps? Are we now a lowly D2 school in theory...

The Ohio State University gets more application than does Harvard College--guessing there must be emergency meetings going on in Cambridge to address this....
Merrimack: 83% acceptance rate but then only a 14% yield of accepted students--doesn't sound like a threat to me
Sacred Heart: 64% and then 20%--better than Merrimack for sure
Bryant: 76% then 17%
Q: 72% and then 12% (may need to double-check-confusing data)
HC: 38% and then 30%

Apparently SHU is over 12k apps. Over 70% greater than HC Compared to HC, SHU has about twice the number of undergraduates. The larger the school enrollment wise, the more apps it will likely receive.

Characters like CaptainKarl at least bring some humor with their posts. Meat is just a clown and troll.
I've never advocated for a poster ban (#bringback70), but he should be sent out to pasture.

We basically went from being an academic and athletic peer of schools like Georgetown, BC and Villanova in 1980 or so to being likewise peers with PL and NESCAC schools today.

Meat may be a troll, but many of us are fed up with the status quo at Holy Cross. The negative impact that FADNP left on HC runs much more deep than you think. Until the BoT and Father Phil make a commitment to athletics we will continue to suck.
Academics/admissions like many schools are taking a hit because of cost/value. 70K+/year to take a class on Russian cinema is not appealing.

What if this Carona virus really expands and colleges have to send kids home to finish the year via distance learning, and students and parents realize how much less distance learning costs on the open market, even from good schools? Unlikely, but the HC model is not without risks. I sympathize with TPTB when they have to vote to commit large sums of money to anything.

Great minds think alike. Assumption University just closed it's Rome campus. Returning students must quarantine themselves for 14 days and finish the Spring Semester online. What does Assumption do when a student/parent demands a partial refund of this semester's tuition?

No college anywhere charges that amount for a single course. Without knowing the entire degree's requirements your statement has no value. I can understand your frustration, but please try to maintain contact with reality. You may be unaware of it, but Holy Cross is rated high for return on investment. (The studies have been posted on Crossports several times over the last few years.)
