Five points down 29.5 seconds left. Hell of an effort.

Looking forward to next year It can’t be worse. Right now, unless the frosh are an outstanding group, I don’t see us doing much next year. Could be another very long season.

Interesting that a team and coach who supposedly threw in the towel on the season only lost by 3 tonight.

Looking forward to getting the four signees + hopefully The Prince & Bo into the mix with Pridgen and hopefully a big Frosh-Soph Wade jump.

It's all been said; it was a brutal year. I never saw any quit , though, and the effort tonight was worthy of respect. It's hard to know how good an incoming class is until they're on the court, but if they get a few decent freshmen I think the results will be much better next year. My big takeaway from this challenging year: Nelson never lost them.

On the other hand, with some decent pg play there's no reason they can't get competitive sooner rather than later. They just lost by 3 on the road to a team that beat the #1 seed last week. Lots and lots of improvements needed, but I don't think it has to take forever.

As long as 3 of the new guys starting out are at the level of the 5 that are coming back, it's a start.
Don't see Bucknell's season lasting much longer. Bad year for them.
Tonight as much as any night, you could see what a difference another year of Floyd would have made. Guy drives the lane, beats Wade or Butler or LeSann; not enough quickness underneath to help out.

Loyola (without Kostecka) loses 78-75. Tough injury to overcome. Lehigh moves on.

Good riddance to this season. We will not finish in last place again. Like the last two years.

Wonder what the last time was when HC grabbed 10 more rebounds than the opponent?

The best thing I saw tonight was Ryan Wade driving to the basket for a layup

no point guard = 24 turnovers Drew Lowder played 20+ minutes in nine games. In those games, the team averaged 14.8 TOs. In his final game - vs. Bucknell - the team committed 22 turnovers
In the other twenty-three games, the team averaged 13.7 TOs.
Yes, the lack of a point guard was a big problem. But the turnover problem was a team effort.

Agree, but if we have a pass first point,, as RJ looks to.be, that would be a big start to cutting down those careless turnovers. Hopefully increased depth will help also as players making unforced turnovers will be substituted for

Congratulations to the team and coaches for getting up for the final game of the season. If the PL had a “bottom ten” rank of teams in the PL since it’s inception, this team would finish number three of four, most likely. Let’s hope the inclusion of a few incoming freshmen can drastically improve Nelson’s defense. Fingers crossed.

Offense: Stultifying, predictable, one-dimensional, frustrating to watch Defense: Shockingly bad Individual Skills Level: Very low Player Development: No evidence that any occurred during this season In-Game Coaching: Not enough evidence to judge Overall: Our PL opponents this season were men; we were boys. High schoolers against middle schoolers. They slapped us around. Train wreck Dumpster fire Nightmare Un-freaking-believable

Loyola (without Kostecka) loses 78-75. Tough injury to overcome. Lehigh moves on. Freshmen Spencer 24!points and Aldama 23 points nice game The three frosh (those two plus Golden Dike who had 10 pts and 7 rebounds) showed why they were named to the PL All-Rookie team. (The 6'11" Aldama's stat line included 9 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 blocks and 3 steals...and one personal foul...Spencer's got a very sweet shot) As far as HC goes, we know what we've got coming back next year (for better and for worse). If we can add a PG who shows up almost as good as an average PL point guard starter (a huge ask, I know) and the usual guys who need a couple of years to develop into being average PL starters I'd say we are well on our way to doubling our win total. It is very tough for us to gain ground relative to our competition - but not so tough for a new HC recruit to get playing time next year.

I just don’t see the current group playing much better defense next season, at least of the man to man variety, so I would make the starters minus Pridgen, the second group next season and have them play zone. I would have Pridgen and the four frosh the starting lineup and have them play man to man. Our defense is atrocious and doing more of the same next season is going to sour a lot of people on the progress of the program. Something drastic has to happen for our defense to improve and doing more of the same isn’t going to get it done.

Don't think you'll see all the freshmen starting but all will play significant minutes. Agree with your assessment that it's unlikely we'll see significant improvement on the defensive end particularly from the current junior class. We definitely need an interior presence that can help reduce the inordinate amount of layups we surrendered this year. Hopefully Rabinovich can assist in this effort but as we know freshman bigs are prone to fouling. It would be very helpful to land Prince Moses and add another big body on the interior. Faw and Niego try hard but are either not strong or agile enough to deny prime low post position. I think both are better suited as key bench players but I'm not sure we'll be in a position to use them that way next year. On a side note it's tough to see Kostecka end his career on the bench with an injury he really carved out a nice career for himself.
