I like his size. We haven’t had many players built like him in a long, long time.

Not sure how accurate or current this is but a Salukis fan posted an hour ago that we have interest in 6’0” sophomore guard Antwuan Butler from Austin Peay. Delaware also reportedly interested. 27 mpg, 6.4 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 2.2 apg. From Philly. Another poster - board admin? - suggests Southern Illinois can expect a commitment imminently, but doesn't know who it is. And now they are all trying to talk like people in Carbondale think Canadians talk.
Stay tuned.

First Twitter mention of us having interest in Butler was 4/2 so it’s possible that reach out occurred before Bo and Malcolm committed on 3/27 and 3/30.

If we don’t get Louth do we wait and play the portal game throughout the summer Or Take the best pg we can get and go small, long, quicker and aggressive next year and mix and match with Faw, Niego and Rabinowitz in the paint. We have Pridgen and Butler to give us additional strength and possibly Judson , and while we will be small, it might work. Or Do nothing and save the scholarship

If we go small, it would have to be a guy we think has all-League potential. Otherwise, I’d look at the portal for a good big or hold it.

Nelson's intent is use all the boats available. 3 up and 29 results in a win now mentality.

Nelson's intent is use all the boats available. 3 up and 29 results in a win now mentality. Makes sense. Just don’t want us to settle for someone mediocre at this late date. Having scholarships tied up with some mediocre players is kind of how we got here (plus 1000 other things).

Antwuan would have to sit out a year if he transferred in, right?

Don’t think so Believe the ncaa will grant all transfers, for this year only, the opportunity to play immediately

I am not as sure I believe that the meeting to make that decision was postponed.

We'll have to wait and see what the Power-5 teams decide on the potential rule change.

We'll have to wait and see what the Power-5 teams decide on the potential rule change. But they only have 5 of 32+ votes. Will have to convince a lot of mid- and low-majors. And even then, the rule change would more likely apply the following year.

Don’t think so Believe the ncaa will grant all transfers, for this year only, the opportunity to play immediately Why? I I know we're having a pandemic, but I can't see why that should affect the waiting period. Is there some theory that not having on campus visits will cut down on unscrupulous coaches poaching? Either have a waiting period or don't. There are plenty of rules that need to have a temporary waiver because of this emergency. . This isn't one of them.

Don’t disagree but my only point was there are enough rumblings among coaches that it could happen

Believe the ncaa will grant all transfers, for this year only, the opportunity to play immediately Very unlikely. ESPN has an article on this under their college hoops section. Proposal will be made in a few weeks and vote on it is scheduled for May 30th. Article says if approved, all transfers will be eligible in the fall of this year. Article speculated this could lead to another wave of transfers this summer if it is passed.

Everything significant decision related to revenue sports is made on behalf of the Power 5, Big East and a few fellow travelers. Now and then there is some window dressing but money talks. So I expect the transfer rule. Having Power 5-quality players at lesser schools doesn’t showcase the product fully for television. Yes there are a few upsets and great Cinderella stories but the product, day in and day out, is big-time sports.

Colgate's Rapolas Ivanauskas to Cincinnati, per VC. Again, I didn't think they were expecting him back next season.
