The UNH run game was too dominant.

Let's face a few things here. We have no defense to speak of. We have no rushing game. We have a tremendous quarterback and receivers. What that amounts to is 5-6 or maybe if things fall our way 6-5. It's the same old same old. We are ok. Not good nor terrible just ok.

It's just "more off the same".....TG teams look great early and then wiltah at the end......I know we were short-handed tonight without Guild, Flaherty etc....but it's just time....Gilmore has been here longah than anyone not named Eddie Anderson and i just don't see us getting that much bettah undah his tutelage.

If Guild, Flaherty and Ford miss significant time, we are in big trouble, especially Guild.

That won't be good enough for ADNP. No playoffs , Gilmore will be gone. We will ge a proven vet or a high level BCS assistant. Too much $ being spent on indoor facility to be happy with this one! f Let's not get crazy here. Winnable game. Everyone is talking about one dimension vs balanced game, etc. that is bull#@*&$~! here. We lost because we tried to run on third and short and 4th and short instead of throwing the ball short, which is what put us ahead in the first place. UNH was better against the run than the pass. We should have thrown the ball 100 times. Pujols played a hell of game. The last Int does not mean much to me- just trying to score with no time left. On defense, we are much improved, but I question the scheme against UNH. Their QB can sure run, but he throws about as well as a JV QB. I would have stacked the box more and gone cover 1 or 0 all night. We made some stupid plays calls (trying to run too much when it was not working); bad decisions on the field (e.g. Running the ball out of the end zone after about to take knee); and injuries - guild and flaherty. Otherwise, we would have won this game. Before some old timer says that you need a power running game, etc. I would note that you use what is working. The west coast run pass was working fine all first half. It was not wise to abandon same. However, I am encouraged overall. Took it to a solid CAA team on the road for much of the game. Next step is winning the league and avoiding some of the mistakes we made tonight in the first round of the playoffs.

the offense was fine for the most pahht.....even without the guys who were injured.....just disappointing, it's been this way for the last 25 years or so....we just get worn down......we need a hungry young coach ala Rick Carter to change the culture.....Gilmore is too "Ivy League" imo....content to have a competitive team not a championship team

Thought I heard Ford's name late in the game You did... he intercepted the ball and made at least one other play... not sure where he was all game, but he was in it to win it in the last few minutes...

Another note - Bell needs to be on the field more, especially with Flaherty out. The kid made some big league catches.

The official capacity of the Wildcat stadium is 11,015. From the stream, you could see that the visitors' side was less than half full. So how could the announced attendance be 13,242?

Tickets sold.....guys played hard tonight, just tired of seeing the same pattern play ovah and ovah again.....Gilmore is probably a great guy but he just seems to be the kind of coach that can only take us so far....let's see what we do at Albany and then Dartmouth on Homecoming

OK. Checked into my hotel for the night. Very disappointing loss as this was a very winnable game. Sorry that I got some hopes up that Flaherty might play. He was suited but guess TG making sure he is healthy for the league games.
On positive note, great to see we threw a bunch to big Luke at TE. Not sure why we stopped.
Yeah, I'll be the old guy who says we need a big back to power those 3-4 yards to keep a drive going. Our OL is plenty big as we have discussed previously. But Walker isn't going to break many tackles.
Our DBs have a tough time tackling people.
We had so many opportunities to put the game away and even when Wildcats went ahead, time running down, they are driving and cough up the ball and we get a new life and then do nothing.
This was a beatable Wildcat team but the play calling sometimes was a head scratcher.
We'll do better against Albany for sure.

Oh for Sarasota's benefit, you probably didn't see hundreds of people, mostly students, sitting on grass on the side near their Jumbotron. A very solid crowd and their students were in it the whole game.
BTW, second time I have been to UNH for football and with no exceptions, their students, fans and staff are friendly and courteous even to those of us wearing purple and other Holy Cross gear. Even one of the local cops gave me a hearty hello before the game when I was an obvious HC fan. Worcester police could take a page from their book.
It became contagious as a few of their older aluns were confused about seating as they switched home and visitor sides from prior years when they renovated the stadium. I explained to some of the older gentlemen and one guy asked if he could sit in front of me (he had general admission). Since I also had GA tickets and probably sitting in reserved seats myself, I told him he could sit wherever he liked but in front of me was fine. We chatted throughout the game.
He wanted to know where our band and cheerleaders were and then he said: "they are probably studying in the library, right?" I told him that was undoubtedly true.
The only thing that would have made the trip better was to go home with a win.

Never been sure what the point of it is. UNH fans were fired up the entire game. Students vey much into it. HC's defense had some struggles but so did UNH. Good teams will make you look that way. Play calling was appropriate except for a few clunkers. Much improved with Rock as OC.

On the plus side, although the announcers, esp the color guy, were atrocious homers, it was the first time I remember any HC game on MSG or any major NYC channel in many, many years

Homers...yes. They were still better than some I have heard. Used Apple tv to watch on my big screen. Great picture quality. Hopefully I can see the again for HC in the playoffs. (OK...unrealistic optimism).

Joe, did you get your Wildcat "terrible towel?"
Time for me to trot out that when you win, you probably aren't as good as you think and when you lose, you aren't as bad as you think.
The last pick 6 on Peter made the score look much worse than how close the game actually was.
Another example of the other team running to victory late in the game. My criticism was our passing game was working and then we decide to run Walker. We need an Eddie Houghten not a Walker/Guild when the game is on the line. Otherwise, keep passing.
It remains to be seen how good UNH actually is. At the end of the season, we may be pleased how closely we played them.

Let's not forget we just competed against a premier FCS team, led most of the way on the road in a hostile environment on a very special and emotional night for that program. The remainder of the OOC will continue to be telling. Need to get the key injured players back on the field. Didn't get a towel but I did get a free Papa John's football for my son!

P.S. How many of you guys picked us to win this game pre-season?
If you didn't, why gripe now?

Has anyone ever mentioned how annoying your mass- speak typing is? Play calling was appropriate except for a few clunkers. Much improved with Rock as OC. It's not a few bad calls that's annoying. It's that the same darned bad call keeps getting called, game aftter game, year after year, involving the same player who, while talented, cannot get the job done on that particular play. Why gripe- because given the circumstances, the game was winnable. Although, truth be told, if you told me that the other team would torch HC's defense so many times, I would tell you that winning was impossible. The only saving grace was that on a lot of possessions, the defense wasn't out there that long; maybe that's why they had something left in the tank to make one or two stops late in the game.
