Clever way to post a giving re minder for the Power of Purple! I received an email from someone who passed on an observation from a classmate of Fauci, declaring that "Fauc" once dunked at the field house. "Fauc" was apparently his nickname back then, Hoops asked if Fauci played intramurals, ---well, if he could dunk, he certainly would have played intramurals. In fact, his whole intramurals team would have been organized around him!

He's described himself as 5'7" and fast. Dunking is extremely doubtful but he is pretty amazing. Maybe one of the third rate reporters could ask him at a press conference.

I take a backseat to no one in my admiration of Dr. Fauci and in my pride that he is an alum, but, having played endless games of intramural ball at HC I think stories of him dunking are probably apocryphal.

Snopes said it is extremely busy these days, otherwise I would put the following question to them: Dr. Anthony Fauci ran marathons when he was in his 40s and 50s, so he must have strong legs. He was captain of his high school basketball team. There are claims he played intramural basketball while attending the College of the Holy Cross. And there are also claims that, while at Holy Cross, Dr. Fauci, despite his stature, was able to dunk the ball. Is this true?

I am deep into the second interview. Can't get enough of Dr. Fauci. Nice to see him in less stressful and less hoarse settings.

Fauci interviewed at Holy Cross ten years ago. This is fantastic. Thank you. His response to the first question, alone, goes to the very essence of why places like Holy Cross exist and continue to add tremendous value to the world.

Fauci's lecture at Holy Cross Nov 2010. At around the13:30 mark he riffs on basketball.

Brad Pitt did a pretty good Dr. F on Saturday Night Live last night Not posting the link—political Fauci said on Sunday that he had often fantasized being played by Brad Pitt on SNL

(Hope this is not deemed political) Dr. F was invited to testify before the House Appropriations Committee. He was told he may not appear.

He will appear before a Senate committee next week, according to the waPo. www.washingtonpost.com/us-policy/2020/05/01/congress-fauci-coronavirus/Speaking non-politically, I would agree with the decision that he not appear before this House appropriations subcommittee. Appropriations subcommittees typically hold hearings where departmental and agency officials support a request for funding (appropriations). There is no such request pending before this subcommittee. If this was an authorizing committee, it would be a different matter

Based on the prior comments. IMHO Dr. Fauci should be allowed to testify not only in front of the Senate as has been allowed but also in front of the House. Peace. He may not want to testify before a House appropriations subcommittee. Unlike an authorizing committee, the members of this subcommittee are not typically subject-matter knowledgeable. He doesn't need to spend a day in preparing and then appearing before lights and cameras so that a grandstanding sub-committee chair can make herself important by holding a hearing when the House is not in session, and most committee members will be absent. Besides, if she asked for an informal briefing, instead of a hearing, he'd probably be happy to oblige. I will tell you a tale from rocketship days. We would write questions for the members of a Congressional committee to ask a witness, and the answers they should expect in response, and provide these in advance. This would make the members appear to be subject-matter knowledgeable. One day, a committee member begins his questioning of an agency official by reciting the answer, instead of the question. This was before Jeopardy.
