THE 'U', as in MIAMI, FL. - I think we had a game scheduled with them for 2021, that was postponed/cancelled (at our request?) - well, this was announced last week, and it might be related to our original date:
"Miami will host Central Connecticut at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Fla., on September 25, 2021. The Hurricanes will pay the Blue Devils a $650,000 guarantee for the game, according to a copy of the contract. " CCSU also announced that they will be playing Yale in New Haven in 2024.

The U might need multiple turnover chains for that one.

CCSU will be between a hard place and a Rock at that stadium. Why doesn't CCSU play someone at their own skill level, like UConn?

Because I guarantee you every kid on CCSU would rather play The U rather than the horrendous squad from Storrs, and so would the bean counters in the athletic dept. That's why.

The HC game with CCSU was scheduled for this September 2020, not September 2021.
If I have understood correctly from reviewing past notes and conversations, the game this year was cancelled due to Merrimack and LIU Football (formerly CW Post) moving to the NEC, presenting a scheduling challenge for CCSU with playing new league members.
The HC could not rearrange the 2020 schedule to match an open date with CCSU for this year.

We should play Miami in 2021 to mark the anniversary of the 1946 Orange Bowl game.

CCSU is an up and coming program with assumed admissions flexibility. It's nice that we have a coach who is leveraging HC's different strengths in the same FCS space.
HC needs coaches who can do that in all sports as there is little margin for error or those last place or next to last seasons in multiple sports will continue.

I want to know how many Central Connecticut fans will be there? Miami has been down for the last two years. Wonder if they can keep it semi close.

I want to know how many Central Connecticut fans will be there? Miami has been down for the last two years. Wonder if they can keep it semi close. 1) Who cares. It's not about bringing fans down from CT, nor is it for most of these type of games that require a flight to get there. 2) Yes they have. 3) No.

Miami was 6-7 against the 68th toughest schedule in D-1 according to Sagarin. Central Conn was 11-2 against the 237th toughest schedule. Miami would have been a 32 point favorite at home against CCSU last season.

CCSU's gridiron success not replicated in basketball. You'd think there'd be more basketball players near there than football players; but I guess that's not how it works.

Miami would have been a 32 point favorite at home against CCSU last season. CCSU did very nearly get an FBS scalp last year which would've been the first in NEC history. Lost on a freak last second punt return against Eastern Michigan. The U will be a little bit of a tougher challenge than that...

Compared to schools like Clemson, Alabama and Florida, Miami is not bringing in nearly the revenue and thus not nearly the same guarantee payout.
