And this gives us a leg up on his 6’ 10” junior All American teammate, Mousse Cisse, who began his HS career in NYC at Christ the King(Jave Mead) If Nelson gets Cisse to come to HC, I will buy season tickets for all the posters I like. Can you reveal both names ?

Suddenly all these years of teasing you and the kids seems like it wasn't the wisest choice. Barring another defection, it looks like we have next year's roster

Other offers from Campbell, Howard and Southern Illinois - Edwardsville of the Ohio Valley Conference. 6’5” is some good length for a guard. URI had interest in him last summer as did Dartmouth and Columbia. Doesn’t appear the Rams offered a scholarship.

Huge kudos to Nelson for his hard work in re-building the roster so quickly. History suggests that not all of these recruits will be effective college players. There are countless reminders how big the jump is from high school to D1. However, it looks like some of these players will be able to contribute right away. I was at the Colgate game and our players went all out for the entire game, but they were gassed at the end, Joe P. was in foul trouble, and there was literally no one to go to to get some points. Lengthening the bench and adding physical players will accomplish much. I'm asking myself based on who we know will be on the roster what success will look like next year. What if they are competitive in every game and win 12?

Barring another defection, it looks like we have next year's roster I'm not so sure. We need another big and have been showing interest in a couple that we know of - quite possible that interest is ongoing, and that Montgomery's commitment only signals a final resolution of the Copeland situation. If that's the case, we still have at least one scholarship left to give.

If all these kids play as well as we hope, there will be a lot of flexibility on the team next season.. And hopefully, a lot more physical. I went to most home games and there were games when it looked like men vs boys out there.

From a pure strength perspective don't think we can expect the freshmen to be on par with more physically mature players however it appears all these guys like taking the ball to the hoop and don't shy away from contact. From the standpoint of sheer athleticism these guys look to be head and shoulders over what we've had recently.

Funny, I was wondering how GE was doing as we haven’t heard from him in a while. Certainly is the bearer of good news tonight. Great to hear from you. Thanks for the kind words Trimster. I had been in voluntary self-quarantine for 14 days as I was in NYC from March 11-13 for the Big East Tourney. As soon as I got home my wife ordered me to the basement so I wouldn't infect her and my 89 year-old mother-in law who lives with us. All is good at the moment as we are all just honkered down here in the Detroit area. Bo Montgomery looks like a good player to me. Great size, excellent range. Bubba Humphrey is from nearby Southfield and is an outstanding player. I am anxious to see the Detroit News and Detroit Free Press all-star teams when they come out. as I believe Humphrey will be honored appropriately. Bo and Bubba-two good ol' boy names. This past season was undoubtedly disappointing. Knowing of Brett Nelson well from his Marquette assistant coaching days he will get the job done at the Cross. I see the wins increasing significantly next year, challenge for the Patriot League title the following season and winning the title during year 4 of his tenure (Maybe Year 3). Nelson is a tireless recruiter and will get good players who fit his style of play. I hope we all keep supporting him at this time.

Coach Nelson turning the page on 3-29 here. Fired up for better days ahead. Using a famous quote by a previous coach -- "fingers crossed." Recruits tend to look good on paper, but I'm very much in the wait and see camp with Nelson and a few of the newcomers. I think we have a nice "plug the hole" player with Townsel, but besides Martindale and Rabinovich who had a good number of offers, the other guys were largely unwanted by other D1 schools. Often times, we judge recruits by who else offered them, and four of the six newcomers had a dearth of offers. The six newcomers may look good by recent standards at Holy Cross, but I'm interested to see how they stack up against other PL schools / comparable mid majors.

I agree that other offers can make a recruit seem better, but they guarantee nothing in the long run. I am most anxious to see how the new recruits look on the court at HC zand just how well they fit into the plans of Coach Nelson and his staff.

Sure, but to analogize with a recent situation we can all likely relate to... we were out of some critical items at home, so we went to the grocery store and found a lot of things we wanted were out of stock as well. So we improvise, grab some different ingredients that are in stock, take them home and get to work on cooking some meals. Let's see what Coach Nelson whips up with this crew over the next couple of years. He may not have gotten everything on his list, but he's got a lot more to work with than he had this past season.

It seems pretty clear that Nelson is intent on having 13 able bodies to work with in 2020-21. Of those, 8-10 will play real minutes in PL play. And we won’t have to gasp every time someone picks up a foul or lands awkwardly because there will be options on the bench.

Bo and Malcolm at 6’5”, as well as Judson at 6’6”-7 may be able to play some at the 4 to break up the wing log jam. Joe plays more of a 4 on offense, so the need is more on D.
