I am praying that she is now in eternal peace.
I am also praying for Bill, that he has the fortitude to remain strong at this critical time in his life.

Thank you for passing on this very sad news, ACTP. Barbara was such a nice person and devoted fan to Bill's teams. She and the family totally fit into our group in Section F/I. Left this earth far too young. Wishing the entire family comfort in dealing with their loss.
RIP, Barbara; my next YOU YOU YOU will be in your memory.

Very sad news. She was always very appreciative of the support provided by the core group of HC fans. She also loved the signs the kids made and brought with them to Lehigh and always mentioned them whenever we saw her after that. Rest In Peace.

In a sad time, even sadder news. May her soul rest in peace and may Bil and their family find comfort in this time of loss. Her suffering has ended and she now rests in the Lord.

We frequently enjoyed a brief chat with Barbara (and family when there) post-game. Win or lose, healthy or sick, she was always smiling, pleasant and positive whenever she was in attendance. May she rest in peace and may the Carmody family find comfort in knowing her pain is over in her return to the embrace of God.

As bad as I feel for the family, I'd feel worse for them if it turns out the current national emergency hastened her passing.

What is a definite result of this virus is that the services will have to be private, limited to a very small number of family.

When Barbara’s cancer became public in early 2019, there was a thread about it on a Northwestern board. One of their fans shared a personal memory of Barbara that seems appropriate to share here:
During my senior year, a few friends and I went to Indy for the BTT. After winning the opening round (IU, I believe), we got to the arena early for the second game, and settled into the secondary NU section in the corner when a woman started talking to us about school, our time as students, our support of the team and friendships with players over the years. Fast forward through a few minutes of pleasant conversation, she asked if these were our seats, and maybe we might like a little closer view. Follow me, she said, as she shepherded us right down to the first few rows of center court among the coaches' and players' families, just to provide a little thank-you to a group of seniors who had attended upwards of 80 games during some lean times as students. We lost to Purdue that night, ending our tenure in the student section, but we sure had a sweet view to do it.
Barbara is a really sweet woman who truly cared about NU and the students during the Carmodys' time here. Cancer sucks - I know it too well - and I wish her all the best in her fight.

I am very pleased for the Carmodys that they had this past year together without the stress of running a basketball program. Hopefully the family can have a memorial in nice weather when the covid cloud clears. My uncle was asked to donate his body to UMass Medical School for study after he passed. He made them wait as he lived to 97. His church funeral was on a snowy day but his cemetery burial was on a beautiful spring day and memories of him we're still vivid a few months later.
