Navy will open the 2020 season against a Catholic school for the 2nd straight year at Navy Marine Corp stadium - their Labor Day weekend game vs. ND has been moved from Dublin to Annapolis. I dare to say ND has never played in Annapolis - let's hope there are fans in the stands.

If there are fans, they will be socially distanced. And thus limited attendance

You are correct, purplehaze, first game at Annapolis. In addition to South Bend, several games played in Baltimore, Cleveland, Philadelphia and The Swamp (in both of its incarnations).
Incredibly one-sided; 77-13 in favor of the Irish.

Thanks. The four comments after the article are enlightening also. I don't think there has been an announcement placing a figure on the Holy Cross projected budget shortfall yet. Hope it is less than $40 mil.

Bowling Green reinstates their baseball program after receiving pledges of $1.5 mill over next three years - similar story with the Alabama Huntsville hockey program I wonder if this strategy will be used by other schools to save money, i.e., announce the elimination of a program and bring it back after enough private contributions can support it

Central Michigan has received a waiver from the NCAA regarding the minimum Division I sports sponsorship requirements. Division I schools are not supposed to have fewer than six sports for male athletes. CMU announced last month it was dropping men's track and field. That leaves the school with five men's teams -- baseball, basketball, cross country, football and wrestling.

UConn announcement: "There will be no band at any of the football games. Including no Pep bands at all basketball and hockey games."
Among other things that make college fb better than the nfl - what a shame if this is necessary throughout the country this fall.

Dropping sports and silencing the band: sounds like UConn has put together a Blue Ribbon Committee charged with removing from the school anything that makes college enjoyable or special. Expect to hear soon an announcement about all ice cream and snacks being banned on campus

thoughtful piece from SI where they point out that cutting all of these (non-revenue) olympic sports will have a negative effect on the country's development of olympic sport athletes and in general diminish the college experience for many student athletes whose programs have been eliminated www.si.com/college/2020/06/11/college-sports-program-cuts-ncaa-olympics
