Article does not say, but I hope one of the URI games is at Fitton ? It says the 2025 Rhody game is at Fitton right on the first paragraph.

I don't love Northern Illinois on the schedule but don't hate it either....we have a pretty good presence in the Chicagoland region which this will be nice for them.
URI is a nice local CAA game as well.

71 miles from Wrigley to Northern Illinois. Could be a fun HC weekend if the Cubbies are at home.

A sidetrack, I know, but I did want to comment to back up an earlier post. Sadly, I never saw a game at Ebbets Field, so I would say Wrigley Field (and Wrigleyville as a whole experience) would be #1 with Fenway (coming from a NY Yankee fan) as second best. Each still has that great "old time" feeling with it.

Odds are 1 of the 2 teams is at home 68 miles to Guaranteed Rate Field. Hardly worth the trip in my opinion. Kind of a cookie cutter new stadium. Probably better uses of time in greater Chicago unless they happen to be playing the Yankees. .

I think this is a FABULOUS addition to the schedule. With Buffalo on the schedule in a few years and now Northern Illinois, I hope we continue to add even more games against the MAC in the future as well. Great for local alumni in/around the midwest and great for attracting top level talent from this geographic region to the Cross. Think having Miami of Ohio on the schedule might help attract some more of that top talent from those great Cincinnati schools like Elder, Saint X, Moeller? You think?
Major props to ADMB and I assume CBC in making this happen.
LET'S WIN!!

Thanks Not that it means much, but N.Illinois was 5-7, 4-4 last season. NIU is typically one of the top teams in the MAC. They played Florida State in the Orange Bowl after a 13-0 start to the season not that long ago (2012?) but have been relatively quiet since. Solid program though, I never recall them being really bad. IIRC NIU defeated FCS semifinalist Illinois State this year in a very close game. Edit: didnt see above post. 2012 was indeed the Orange Bowl Year.

This is a great game.
NIU is the best program in the MAC.
When Athlon ranked the MAC’s best jobs last year, they listed NIU as #1, saying :
1. Northern Illinois
The Huskies have dominated the MAC in recent seasons, with eight overall trips to the conference title game (with four titles) since 2005. The city of Chicago is less than 70 miles away, providing Northern Illinois with a talent-rich area on the recruiting trail. Additionally, the facilities rank among the best in the MAC.

But are their facilities comparable to HC ‘s ?

In addition to being close to a great city to visit, I do like the potential recruiting benefits as well as mentioned by td128 above.

Does anyone know what happened to the Harvard series? There was an announcement a few years back that we would be playing every year from 2018-2025. This site, which is usually pretty good, has us playing only in 2020 and 2021. It shows our Yale games going out to 2028. fbschedules.com/ncaa/holy-cross/

Meaning I would have loved Northwestern in the Chicago-area more....UNH played and beat the Wildcats there relatively recently. It's a good game but it's not at the level of Navy, Cuse and BC FBS games.

Northern Illinois has quite the program. The Huskies have won on the road against some higher profile programs:
2009 @ Purdue 2010 @ Minnesota 2013 @ Iowa 2013 @ Purdue 2014 @ Northwestern 2017 @ Nebraska 2018 @ BYU

URI is a nice local CAA game as well. We have more history with Army, UConn, UMass, Rutgers, Temple and now Navy. but I like it because HC doesn't get to the Chicago area often yet we have had some good players from that area over the years. And we sent our G.O.A.T. out there to play for the Chicago Bears.

I wouldn't read too much into Harvard not being on that list. Harvard's page on that site doesn't have any non-leaguers past 2021.
Not only that, but it only shows Dartmouth and Brown in 2023 and 2024; and only Brown thereafter. In other words, quite incomplete.
