How do you get 293 on a big foam finger?

OK, not UNI...NIU. Is there a huge difference? I thought of it as similar to CHC vs HCC. Nor is there between "less than" and "fewer", but I've had my balls busted more than once for that admittedly grammatical error.

Trivia: When and who did we play in football on the road in the Midwest last? For the purposes of this question, Western PA is not considered the Midwest...neither is Buffalo nor Colorado lol. Google or goholycross.com cheatahs are BC fans.

My guess would be Dayton. If not them, perhaps Xavier.

I have to say I'm pretty stumped. Tempted to open up a media guide but I won't.
Going to piggyback off SOV and guess Xavier.

Xavier - Cincinnati
I would agree.
Was it before Dave Quehl?

SoV is correct with Dayton....we won at the City of the Flyers 36-8 on Nov 3rd in the Year of Our Lord 1962.
Amazingly, we still played 4 more games after that trip to Ohio that season. Seasons started much later, ended later back then.
Somewhat surprisingly, we nevah played the Musketeers in football.
The 5 teams that traveled to Fitton that year:Buffalo, Syracuse, VMI, Penn St and UConn....pretty good team, captains were Tom Hennessey and Dennis Golden....started out 3-0, lost respectably to Syracuse but blown out by the Nittany Lions and the Eagles...finished 6-4.

We have really rarely gone to the Midwest for football going all the way back to 1896. Marquette was the most frequent opponent there (13 games), Dayton (10), Detroit (4) and once vs. St Louis way back in 1912.

Google or goholycross.com cheatahs are BC fans. I didn't look below, I'm guessing it was at Dayton in the late 50s/early 60s. If not Dayton, then Detroit; although perhaps U of D was only a frequent BC opponent and not one of HC. (edit) I remember seeing Dayton on the historical schedules; had no clue whether the games were home or away. The traditional HC football schedule until 1982 was to play BC the Saturday after Thanksgiving 5 out of 7 years. The other 2 years, when Thanksgiving was the 22nd or 23rd (the two earliest days Thanksgiving can fall on), the games were the Saturday after that; which put them on December 1 or December 2. So, always 4 or 5 games in November/December.

Any Train buffs who can guesstimate the train route between Worcester and St. Louis in 1912?

According to a website called gotickio.com, the trip on Amtrack today would start at $112 (may be a come-on) and take 30 hours and 18 minutes with no route mentioned.

It was at Dayton in '62....I think it might have been a "3 for 1" deal with the Flyers then....only the '62 game in that era was at Dayton. Looking again, we are 9-1 lifetime against Dayton...the '62 game was the only one in the series played there...also the last one played between those 2 fine institutions.

Both HC (1951) and BC (1940) played a road game at Tulane. That was a heck of a train trip; and not for a bowl game.

There are some fine Catholic Churches in New Orleans for the players to attend. While the fans were in the French Quarter.

Daughter #2 graduated from Tulane. It’s a fine school and has a new football stadium on campus—- used to play in Superdome, way too big a venue. I’d love to see us play the Green Wave
Speaking of Dayton, the many New York Football Giants fans on the board should remember Dayton’s biggest NFL star........

Any Train buffs who can guesstimate the train route between Worcester and St. Louis in 1912? Worcester to Chicago (via Albany, Buffalo, Cleveland). Chicago to St. Louis? Sounds about right unless they went through New York City and Pennsylvania In the eighties my parents took the train from Worcester to San Francisco to visit my sister and flew back and the train went through Albany. They said some of the views in the west were breathtaking. That was before Union Station was rehabbed and Amtrack had a little ticket shed next to the tracks off Shrewsbury St. and passengers just climbed onto the train.

Hoops and Longsuffering have it right: Jim Katkavage
I remember the Giants Dl as Katkavage, Andy Robustelli, Dick Modzelewski, and the great Rosey Grier--I think that's right
