I applaud this decision. I don't see the sense of Holy Cross making a blanket decision to keep 100% of employees on full pay until June 30th even if they have no work to do. Congress is giving every laid off employee an extra $600 per week. Holy Cross is saying "We'd rather drain our own funds." Perhaps I haven't noticed any updates to HC's position, or don't understand it completely but it strikes me as wasteful.

You don't know what HC has or hasn't done in regards to shaves or furloughs.

You don't know what HC has or hasn't done in regards to shaves or furloughs. I do believe I read a statement that HC will pay every employee in full through June 30th...unless my mental decline has accelerated. It wouldn't be shocking if the college, out of necessity has reconsidered but I haven't noticed that being announced anywhere.

The college is paying all contractual employees through the end of the contract period, which is June 30. To reduce the ultimate expense of such, the college has asked employees to use accrued leave, True, not every employee has a substantial amount of accrued leave, but I expect that many do. And it is not as if the coaches aren't working.
The employment contracts in the athletic dept. are such that I expect the college is obligated to pay for the entire one year contract period. We've had plenty of discussions on this board about the college not wanting to eat the cost of the remaining years of a coach's contract if the coach was to be dismissed before the end of the contract.

What I think I read from Father B. is all college employees will be paid in full until June 30. No skin off my nose, but my instinct would be to only pay for the work that has to be done and pass the baton to the Stimulus Bill.

Not just football coaches have been furloughed...including their new baseball coach who is restarting their baseball program.

Does anyone want to argue that we're not overstaffed in the HC Athletic Administration - have you looked at the directory here ? I think it's much too large (even without a covid 19 reality) - good opportunity to some serious trimming on June 30th or before. Our ROI is simply not there (on the competition fields-courts) and hasn't been in a long time. goholycross.com/staff-directory
