It appears that everyone who was upset about us playing "lowly" Merrimack on 9/5 will get their wish and this game most likely won't happen. In other news, I had a dream on Friday night that I was at an HC/Air Force game in Colorado springs. I awoke from the dream with HC down 38-0 with about 2 minutes to go before halftime. Also random: a couple months back I had a dream that we beat Navy in Annapolis in a rematch of last year's opener. Really low-scoring game -- 18-16 or something...and the game was played in a really old-looking field that looked nothing at all like Navy-Marine Corps Stadium. This is going to sound weird but I had a dream the other night that we played Army at Army but the stadium was not Michie. All the seats were on one side on a very steep hillside. There was also some confusion about the start time. They wound up starting 3 hours prior to what had been scheduled so there was almost no one there.

HC 35 AFA 18 1978 Parcells coached the Falcons that afternoon.
About dreams, read a couple articles (no links, sorry) how many of us are dreaming more vividly these days....mind dealing with isolation etc....fascinating.

Or Dietz Stadium in Kingston. The Black Knight sprint football team likely faced off against the Holy Cross flag football intramural champ at Michie at the varsity scheduled start time.

The schedule makers must have anticipated a calamity encouraging playing regional foes this season. The OOC games are two Massachusetts Catholic colleges and three Southern New England Ivies. Excellent imo. I really hope we can get the games in and wouldn't mind a fee to watch the games on the PLN to offset lost revenue from ticket sales, just for this season until a vaccine allows for live fans again.

At this point, hard to tell. If HC plays and if fans are allowed (two very big "ifs"), I believe HC will be well represented.

Ask us all again in June or July. We'll all have a better idea then whether the game will even be played and, if so, what if any limitations on fan attendance. It is in Massachusetts, right?

If the game is played, I will be watching on NEC Front Row.
Still too early to determine regarding if there will be a resurgence of the level of raging viral infection.
What will make it difficult, regarding attendance is the size of the stadium at Merrimack. May be hard to socially distance however in any venue, especially halftime lines for concessions and bathrooms.

Newguy, Joshua, IF they play the game and IF there is room for social distancing (no, I am not depending on 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue to make that choice for me . . . . Dr, Fauci's the man), I would expect to be there. I have to make up for last season. A personal "missing season" for me.
Will you be there? And, by any chance are you a Merrimack guy scouting the opposition's fans?

Hello my fellow newbie! Love the optimism, I have think regardless of if there’s social distancing guidelines or not, we won’t see Merrimacks stadium full but I could be wrong, I don’t know what kind of following they have.

Under normal circumstances I think Merrimack would be pumped and jacked over this game and HC, coming off a championship season would be also and the small stadium would be jammed. But these aren't normal circumstances. Minus a vaccine I can't see too many older people risking it even if fans are allowed.

Probably should have looked up the capacity of the stadium before I made that statement. I would love for it to be packed, I love great atmospheres. Don’t know if that’s a possibility though.

I was fully expecting a sellout at MC before Covid. Probably roughly half HC and half MC fans. Now, probably not so much. If I had to guess, I’d say games that early in the season will not be played at all. We shall see.

I believe that's an excellent guess. Merrimack is obviously not a "pay" game and if the schedule gets shortened, this'll likely be the first to go. In fact, I could see the 3 early Ivy games go and Lehigh moved to the October 10 Brown game (if Lehigh's schedule allows the move, or perhaps they drop their 9/26 game against LIU and play us that day which is free for us. All depends how far they push back the schedule which seems to be almost a given). That's if there are even any fall games at all. Guessing we'd still play BC in the middle of the schedule because of the new sporadic tradition we have but equally important for the $$$$ to Holy Cross and BC learned they can get a pretty packed house when they play the Cross, much more than some of their other non-conference home games.
Certainly a scheduling nightmare for all schools. Many/most PL OOC games are against the IL. I'm guessing there will be a conference to conference summit if there is a shortened season.

10/3/2020, we play Harvard away and Lehigh plays Yale away and could start the season/PL season that day.
Would be nice payback if Yale got stiffed of a home game like they have stiffed us twice even if it'd be the Mountainhawks doing the stiffing. And I could get over not playing Harvard at their place as long as they don't say the following year has to be back there.

Some articles talk about a second wave in the fall when colder temperatures return. The Merrimack game is in the summer and it is unlikely the temperature will be cold. It would be a shame if TPTB in colleges and leagues push the season opening back so they can get their shirt together and carefully plan for safe games, only to lose the games that could be played safely if the planning was completed by late summer and then lose the later fall games to a second wave of the virus when careful planning was finished and everyone was ready to play.
Be careful but be decisive please.
