Many of us are missing the National Pastime. I thought fans might be interested in this challenge: Can you name the 9 players who have reached 4,000 professional hits. Qualifying hits include regular season in all professional leagues-MLB, minor leagues, foreign professional leagues, Negro leagues- and MLB post season. There are 6 names that are reasonably obvious and three difficult selections. I'll provide hints when the group stalls . You don't have to get them in order, of course. When my brother asked me I got 6 correct rather quickly then needed hints on the remaining ones.
1- 2- 3- 4- 5- 6- 7- 8- 9-
One note, as some are new to the board--the challenge is to probe your memory rather than just going on-line to look up the answer.

Pete Rose Ty Cobb Ichiro Suzuki Hank Aaron (if I understand the parameters, you are also counting his Negro League & Minor League stats)

Will get the three most obvious out of the way — Rose, Cobb, Ichiro.
I believe I can name four more, but will let the board have at it.

Ricky Henderson?
I don’t think Julio Franco ever amassed a ton of hits in a season, but the guy played into his mid-50s (who knows, he could have been 60), so I think he could be in the 4K club.

In MLB Boggs just scraped 3,000. Id be shocked if he was in minors long enough to collect 1,000 MiLB hits. Boggs also had such a great eye so he cannobalized some of his would-be hits with walks.

5 & 9 are easy
They are the only players on the list who played for only one team during the MLB part of their professional careers

In terms of MLB players, I figure you need to think of guys with 3500 or so career MLB hits and maybe 2.5 - 3 years in the minors. Used to know the career hits leaders and their numbers better back in the early 80's and the only other major leaguer I can think of in that range not mentioned yet is
Stan Musial with 3630 career MLB hits.
Have no clue how long he may have played in the minors, but if it was 3-ish years I'm sure he'd have at least 400 minor league hits, so I'll guess Stan-the-Man.

#7 was a very exciting player. He played in many decades.
I never saw him play but saw him many times after a Cubs game as he was a regular at the Cubby Bear Lounge across from Wrigley Field.

Tris Speaker is another good try but he didn’t play long enough in the minors to crack the 4,000 mark over all.

You’ve got it. Orestes Minnie Minoso is correct. So we are now missing only #6

Just found it thru Google, so I won't post it, but if you saw him many times in Chicago, I assume you were aware of his connection to HC. Yes?
[EDIT]
Nevermind. Just saw the clue.

Played for the Worcester Grays - also managed in Worcester and is buried in Worcester. Had it in my head that he went to HC (he didn't)
