While it seems to have been fading for some time, it appears the HC Shield Logo that was on the Hoval lawn is gone. Not sure if it just wore out from the weather or the grounds crew helped it along. Here's the webcam link: www.holycross.edu/webcams/hoganP.S. Doesn't look like they've resumed work on the buildings in construction.

Guess that post makes it official ... ... you're so bored with self-quarantine that you're watching grass grow and finding it entertaining!

1. Never said and don't think I implied I was "entertained." That said, yes to watching grass grow. Much more exciting watching grass on Mt. St. James than Cranston. Hmm, maybe you're right? 2. Purposely held back from making a nasty comment like "maybe they're clearing the field so they can put a Crusader logo instead" but certain posters would tell me I was again beating a dead horse and so, I didn't say it. But . . . . . . felt I should say this so you'd know I wasn't "entertained" but still ticked off. [Is this being a result of cabin fever? Don't know.] 3. Facetiming with 5 year old grandson today and had "The Jo" webcam on my desktop and grandson recognized the building when I showed him what I had on my computer and he said "Grandpa, we go by that building when Daddy takes me to Holy Cross (for basketball games) but it was purple!" I can't tell if it is the lighting or that the purple color was just the insulation panels now covered over but doesn't look purple now. [How entertaining. ]

I believe the shield was placed to commemorate the 175th Anniversary of the College. There also was a shield in front of Fenwick facing Kimball in 2018-2019.
Since the anniversary year has passed, and very few people are on campus, the ground crew with limited resources probably have other priorities.
Maybe it will reappear once students return to campus.

70, speaking about being entertained, I was impressed by your background on the zoom chat with coach Chesney last week. Looked very professional. Should be used whenever a HC spokesperson is being interviewed. 😎

You are right, as usual. I do recall seeing the shield on the hill from Kimball up to Fenwick.
But . . . . . . there is no webcam of that view. Understanding that the webcams are probably there first for security (especially of the buildings under construction), I always thought that out=r beautiful campus should have webcams of the quad and perhaps some other locations. If you agree, where else might webcams be set up? Fitton Field? Thoughts?

I would add a web cam on O’Kane looking west on Linden Lane. Would be a beautiful view in the fall and doing a snowstorm.

The web cam pointing north is on the Library. I was suggesting another cam on the O’Kane porch, pointing west focusing on the entire length of Linden Lane. Flowers in the Spring and a Summer, Foliage in the Fall, and Snow storms in the Winter provide a very scenic view of the main college entrance.

When work resumes on The Jo, there is likely to be construction activity at the SW corner of the Hoval, as a connecting path between the Hoval and The Jo is in the plans.
