Brown University just announced that it is dropping several varsity sports and is transitioning them to club status. Not sure if this is truly related to COVID-19 or was something that was being considered even before this all happened. Could this be a trend?

Read the details. This was in the works for a while.

No college pigskin in 2020, at HC anyway, sadly. Has Dr Fauci voted here yet? Dr. Fauci gave Chu Chu his proxy until after the pandemic.

I believe HC very much wants to play football this Fall

I hope HC and other regional D-1 teams that want to play are allowed to shed the restraints of their leagues, if it is necessary for a season, and play each other.

Still evolving obviously....but some of the regulations I'm hearing being bandied about for Fall sports by the MIAA/Mass Gov etc...don't bode too well for football. Again, still just May, so this will hopefully change.

Fortunately the MIAA can't screw up college sports.

As of right now, just a laundry list of things that would have to be done to practice/play games that seem really impossible logisitically....

No...but I haven't checked their website...I don't think they have any clue anymore than any of us right now. They were trying to squeeze in a Spring sports until the very end this year.

I had no idea until today that Fox (the whistle company, not the network) and others sell electronic hand-held whistles.
I don't think I can run, however, with a mask on. And it's horribly hot on many September afternoons, imagine trying to not touch the mask or your face?

It would be safer for everyone for the Refs to sit on the sideline in a lawn chair and just click the electric whistle in their hand.

I just hope by the beginning of August there are hardly any cases around here. Or they call off the season or push it to the spring.

I don’t remember if it was 3 or 5, but one of those amounts of Oklahoma State played tested positive as well. Obviously they don’t carry the weight and importance Alabama players do in the media’s eyes but something to note. Not a good sign. One said he got it from being out at a protest.

I have heard that a Mid July players on campus is probable from another local Coach. Could bode well for HC and its players.

Hearing the same thing from my sources, with a plan for out-of-state players to report on July 6 and quarantine for 7 days, to be joined by the rest of the squad on July 13 to begin offseason conditioning activities in advance of camp in August. All of this is apparently subject to approval by the Patriot League hierarchy. Fingers crossed.

I think our chances might depend on how the FCS schools do this summer - they have been returning to campus this week - and Alabama just reported that 5 of their approx 90 players on campus have tested positive.

This seems to be a more pressing topic here than most boards. If the PL was a "go" on football, would HC decline to participate?
If it was not, would HC play anyway?

Do you mean that most boards do not care ?

This seems to be a more pressing topic here than most boards. If the PL was a "go" on football, would HC decline to participate? If it was not, would HC play anyway? No to the first question and possibly yes to the second if the PL season cancellation was an outlier and most regional FCS programs were playing and could fit HC in due to one or two teams on their schedules cancelling their seasons. Even then, I assume HC would go along with the league but I would hope the decision would be up to Holy Cross and respected by the PL. It may be more pressing here this year because we finally have "Big Mo" (momentum) on our side and it would be a shame to interrupt that.

If the PL were the only conference that cancelled the season HC might be in trouble finding other games beyond what's already scheduled OOC. If the PL cancelled and other conferences in the northeast did so as well, HC would be able to find additional games against those teams. We are going to play and win football this coming Fall.
