For many of us, especially those from the late 60's and early 70's who were on campus with Justice Thomas tonight's movie on his life from the slums of Savannah to the SCOTUS will be very enlightening - surely there are many who disagree with his judicial philosophy but that should not keep us from watching - in the NY area it's on PBS' channel 13 at 9 pm. I have not seen it so I don't know how much of his time at HC is covered.
will be interested in seeing posters reactions here tmro

I'll catch a repeat broadcast of this or find it some other way. Were there any HC-connected folks interviewed?

Hoops It was on too late here in the Nutmeg State so I am going to have to watch it sometime this week on the PBS app. Was it just Justice Thomas being interviewed or was there a narrator and others interviewed as well?

Alum: Being from the Nutmeg state, it was nice to see when Clarence Thomas was being sworn into one of his positions before going to the US Supreme Court, Connecticut Supreme Court Judge Santaniello ‘46, was officiating.
Judge Santaniello was a Great Crusader, and strong supporter of HC athletics.

Judge Santaniello tried to help King Gaskins, IIRC; that didn't end well, but God bless him for trying.

I thought it was well done and any HC portion was short - did not realize he spent only three years on campus - sep '68 thru june '71 (unless the dates mentioned were an error) - those senate hearings were dramatic with the Anita Hill allegations - did not remember that Thomas' passionate defense turned the public opinion in his favor by about 2-1

it was well done, especially the cinematography of coastal Georgia, but it was strange to see a 2 hour autobiography, and almost totally narrated by the subject. I cannot remember ever seeing one of that type previously. Interesting to see the portrait of Frederick Douglass on the wall of Thomas' office.

The dates at HC are correct. Only three years due to having attended seminary with credits that transferred.
I noticed the portrait of Frederick Douglas also.

Judge Santaniello was a Great Crusader, and strong supporter of HC athletics. I will watch for that. I had a mixed relationship with Justice Santaniello. He was off the Connecticut Supreme Court before I was admitted. I had a few settlement conferences before him which went well and one in which I ticked him off because I didn't follow his advice. He was proud of HC and I made sure to remind him that we were fellow Crusaders.

I got to know Justice Santaniello pretty well when I was clerking first Justice Callahan. One of the all-time great Crusaders. Justice Callahan played football at BC and had a cup of coffee with the Bears. One of his sons played at HC.

The full video can be found on the Carpe Diem blog of economist Mark Perry on the aei.org website. I missed the first 30 minutes or so and was glad to discover this. Odd that alma mater is referred to as "Holy Cross College."
