Per a suggestion, I have renamed this thread and hope it will serve as a home for random notes of limited interest that may only be worth posting during quarantine. I’ll start with a post about the one and only Drew Absher . . .
Stumbled upon this guy from the way-back machine. He was a gunner in whom we and some other PL schools were reportedly interested several years ago during the MB era. We never offered and neither did any other D1 school during his high school years. He hit 271 three pointers in high school and prepped at The Gunnery. Anyway, he went to VMI where he scored 54 points in 4 years. He apparently had a foot injury that hampered him for much of his career. He’s now a golf and assistant basketball coach at one of the regional campuses for UVA. Yes, I have too much free time.

Maybe you could change the thread name to "Obscure Items Somehow Related to HC Sports" and a bunch of us can fire away!

I played golf today and one of the guys was asking me if I wanted some HC swag (cap and sweatshirt) that he had won at an HC sponsored golf tournament a few years ago. Coincidentally, today is his birthday - same as RJ as I just read in another thread. I declined the swag as it looked like the kind of stuff that the book store likes to get rid of by donating as golf tournament prizes. And I don’t want to see any posts saying I have no life. I did play golf today!🙂

RJ’s birthday was yesterday When I wrote my post yesterday it was the same day I saw the post about RJ’s birthday being today i.e. yesterday. So, if today I find out that his birthday was not yesterday, but actually the day before yesterday, I guess I just have to say “Happy Belated Birthday, RJ!

Must not have had the Crusader on it! I didn’t look that closely- socially distancing and all. The sweatshirt was 95% white with a splash of purple and the hat had some unusual color combination with some kind of HC in the center. In retrospect I should have just taken them as someone here might like them. I’ll text him and see if they’re still available.

The ball couldn't have broken a windshield when it landed on Landsdowne Street as car windshields didn't arrive until 1916. I wonder if any home run ball at Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field has hit a car on Southbridge St. or the Rte. 290 ramp?

I attended the hoop holiday tourney in Jupiter in November, watching one of the few victories of the season. It dawned on me that if I fell asleep that night and woke up today, the changes made to the hoop team and the world with this pandemic would be a script that even Rod Sterling would pass on.

I remember playing Yale at Fitton and a Yale player putting two homers onto the 290 on ramp in the game. So I am guessing that some Crusader or visiting player must have hit a car with a long HR.

KY Didn’t RP II do the same thing with a walk off grand slam vs. BC in the late ‘70s or 1980?

KY Didn’t RP II do the same thing with a walk off grand slam vs. BC in the late ‘70s or 1980? I played softball with one of BC's outfielders. Said he had all the admiration in the world for Perry coming through like that. I think HC was down to its last out.

Jerry “The Rat” Tabler hit one over the Green Monster back in ‘91 or ‘92. He weighed 150 lbs soaking wet.
