In addition to being an elite academic institution, Johns Hopkins has also been a premier D3 hoops program for many years. Good luck to Lincoln.

Johns Hopkins is a fine academic school. I did not know they were that good in D-3 hoops. Best of luck to Lincoln.

Pat Flannery's son Jesse was a PG for JHU from 2014-18. They went to the NCAA twice during that span and won three tournament games. Flannery is now a grad assistant at VCU under Mike Rhoades, who was his dad's top player when they won the NCAA D3 championship.

They had a Coach Bill Nelson who retired a few years back. I had a couple of kids play for him in the 2003-20010 time frame. A wonderful man, who coached there for over 30 years and won about 65% of the games he coached. Players loved him and as mentioned above they were very strong in D3 for a number of years.
Lincoln getting the extra year will walk away with 2 great degrees. NOT HC but certainly a globally recognized institution. Hopefully he will have a great experience!
Hopkins has the ability to attract and retain great coaches-- Nelson for hoops, Jim Margraff who passed away a few years back, and lax has done well over the last forty years.

Congrats to Lincoln. High academic D3 is where we had him pegged. Glad it worked out.

I love the fact that a kid from HC can transfer to Johns Hopkins....speaks well of the school.

Unless there was a compelling reason for Lincoln to play 3 more seasons - any chance that Hopkins said to him that he should enter as a sophomore given his 2 year transcript from HC ?

Unlikely- my nephew transferred to Hopkins from ND under a similar situation for LAX-they did it to get him a year or more towards an advanced degree.

LAX is d.1 at Hopkins and they give schollies - different situation - the point I'm making is that bball is d.3 so he's not getting athletic aid so unless he's getting substantial need aid, his family is shelling out $75,000 + for that 5th year - question: if he said to JH I want to come in as a junior and play two years for you guys and graduate in '22, would JH have accepted that ?.

If Johns Hopkins does not give scholarships (D-3 schools cannot, right?) the school has no downside to Yeutter enrolling regardless of whether he enters with 2 or 3 years to play. His arrival will not displace anyone, unlike the status for a scholarship player in D-1.

Philosophy with Hidla Hein:
If there is a basketball game, but no one there to see it, did it really happen?

My son and I are volunteering at the Travelers Championship in a couple of weeks. Definitely going to be weird with no fans there but it will be memorable.

Is that a basketball tourney ? Golf. River Highlands near Hartford. Has developed into one of the PGA Tour's better events.

We’ve been cooped up for a long time. Need an activity. It’s usually a very fun event. Not sure how it will be on an empty course but my son enjoys it and that’s the only way he can see it.

FWIW Johns Hopkins has essentially moved to the HYP model (no loans, many qualify, etc.) in terms of need-based financial aid for students. Irrespective of athletic participation. Began this two years ago (thanks Mayor Bloomberg). Not suggesting this applies to Mr. Yeutter but something to keep in mind.
