What a weird time this has to be for college coaches and the rising juniors as they are called, of high school and prep school basketball. Normally, many juniors would catch the eye of college coaches on the summer AAU circuit. Some would get offers, others would be followed closely in their junior hs seasons. That whole process is in a major state of flux with no AAU season. In that regard, maybe it isn’t a bad thing the staff only has one scholarship to give to that class.

I forgot to include the retirement of super evaluator Tom Konchalski. Talk about the perfect storm but come to think of it, Tom K. wouldn’t have anywhere to go to evaluate talent save for the backyard court.

I gotta think there'll be a lot of current 2021s who end up in 2022; especially if there's an abbreviated (or none at all) season.
If that happens, the talent in that class is going to be considerable, which will in turn make some 2022s into 2023s, and so on.

Except for the prep school players we get, most of our recruits do not reclassify

Not sure about other states; but in Mass. you cannot play if you are 19 before September 1 of that school year. And, I believe, except for someone missing a school (not athletic) year due to illness or some other catastrophe*, you have only four years regardless of age. * What's going on now might qualilfy as such a catastrophe, so stay tuned.

I think the kids who are really going to be hurt by no summer are the late blooming rising seniors who could display their development on the summer AAU circuit. For example, NERR has been showcasing those types of kids in their daily senior spotlight. Worse case is there are no sports next year and they graduate as planned, particularly for those kids already at a prep school. At least a high school senior will have the option of going the prep route.

Speaking of eligibility, anyone know if there is an age limit on AAU ball?

Most of the major sneaker sponsored circuit games have few rules. They are not AAU sponsored
