like CCNY, who went on to win both, did that year?
Did it have something to do with CCNY being in New York?

I believe that being in NYC had much to do with it. Bradley was top ranked and CCNY beat them in MSG in the NIT.final. Then I think CCNY best Bradley again in the.NCAA final also at MSG Then came the point shaving scandal

Yeah, it's just kind of odd....obviously Bradley played in both that year....I wonder if HC felt that by playing in 2 post-season tournaments, it took away too much time from school then?

Thanks for that link alum....my Dad would have read that as a Sr that year....fascinating to look at those old Tomahawks/Crusaders, the more things change and all that. How great a writer was Dave Anderson? I loved that line of Doggie Julian asking a stranger on the corner "Have we walked 3 blocks yet?"

I liked the line about how HC's poor play in the NCAA's had left a "sour taste" in the mouths of MSG fans. I read a book called "City Game" about the CCNY scandal (and watched a PBS documentary as well.) It sounded like everyone at the Garden was a gambler in those days. Cousy and friends must have cost some of these guys some dough.

There's a story about the late T&G sportswriter Nick Manzello who lived his whole life in Worcester. Nick was in New York City to cover a big boxing event and shared a cab with another sportswriter. The cabbie asked them where they were from. "I'm from Grafton Hill" said Nick.
