Well, then he can make an unofficial visit and demonstrate that he is keenly interested….

Let's get Sean Logan and Haugh and families up to HC for the coming weekend for official visits. They can see our beautiful campus, athletic facilities, and potential teammates and watch HC football team pound Merrimack. I think we only have 1 scholarship left unless Gates and Townsel both leave after this season.

I think we only have 1 scholarship left unless Gates and Townsel both leave after this season. FWIW, they are both listed as seniors on the roster. All of last year’s frosh are listed as sophomores and we know last year didn’t count as a year of eligibility in the world of the NCAA. If you follow NCAA eligibility rules we have 10 frosh and 2 juniors on the roster. That doesn’t include walk-on-site.

For athletes who play a fifth year, I think we generally move them through the normal four years on the roster and have them “repeat” their senior year in year 5. Townsel and Gates may both leave after this year but I wouldn’t reach that conclusion just because they’re listed as seniors on the roster this year. My guess has always been that Townsel will leave but we may try to find a way to keep Gates who would have been on track to play in 2022-23 without the pandemic. Townsel would not have been.

Agree that it is possible but I think it is very unlikely. Same goes for the 7 sophomores. If your options are to declare a double major so you can stay at HC for a 5th year or get a free year of grad school as a grad transfer, I think very few if any go the double major route.

Gates as a transfer presumably had his academic plan set before the pandemic. That plan would have included his staying three years, one sit out, two playing. Thus there would be no need for any double major. True, he will have the chance to transfer again and play somewhere immediately. But, unless he has accelerated his original academic plan, he would not graduate from HC in May, 2022, and thus would not be eligible for a free post grad degree somewhere else next year.

Assumes that the College & the PL grant the undergrad double major option which is distinct from NCAA eligibility. A good chance at PLC & NCAA appearance may out weigh a year of paid grad school

If the men get two more commitments this fall, we have our answer. As an aside, we all know academics is the driving force behind how many years an athlete plays at HC so assuming the college accepted the same or nearly the same amount of credits for both MT and GG, why wouldn’t they both be graduating at the same time. I know MT was eligible immediately and Gates had to sit a year but their academic progress is what drives the bus. Football players get their fifth year by taking a semester off. Basketball players don’t have that option. I know in the past, basketball transfers like Carballeira, Godboldt, Runce, Thurman and McCaffrey had to sit a year and then played two so they ended matriculating at HC for 3 years but that was a long time ago and before the PL.

During PL time Josh Sankes and Mike Cavataio followed the same plan

During PL time Josh Sankes and Mike Cavataio followed the same plan If our two seniors want to extend their time academically beyond their expected graduation date, they had to have already declared that intention according to the academic bylaws. Requests for an extended graduation date should include an academic plan and an explanation of the need for the additional time. Requests must be submitted to the Class Dean prior to the end of the seventh semester. Student-athletes who qualified for “Redshirt” status under the NCAA and Patriot League rules must submit the request by the end of the sixth semester, unless injured after the sixth semester. A final decision in the matter of extended matriculation rests with the Dean of Experiential Learning and Student Success.

I don't recall the timing of waiving the sit out year vs getting the extra year of eligibility. Gates may have changed his plan to graduate in the spring of 2022, but the original plan was 2023

There is a Hart Center, actually H.A.R.T., in New Oxford , PA. Hometown of Thomas Haugh. Could be an omen.

Nicolo Nobili has committed to BU. Not sure if this was already posted, but looks like they also have another big coming from the west coast, 6-8 Otto Landrum:
Hope we've got a quality answer. By the way, did not realize that McCoy and Mathon are coming back.

PG Ben Roy commits to BU. We had offered Roy, but got an earlier commitment at the position from Will Batchelder - will be interesting to see how they match up during their PL careers.

During an interview posted yesterday, Sean Logan said he plans to make his decision sometime in October. The link to the article was posted this morning on the W&M board. William and Mary frequently fishes in the same ponds as Holy Cross.

How do I go about sending this kid a double-cheeseburger, fries and a banana split - everyday for at least a month?

According to VerbalCommits, Sean does have the 13 offers mentioned here, but as far as Fairleigh Dickinson being first, they are not listed among the 13. The list has the Holy Cross offer being the first of the 13 mentioned.
