Thanks 45. So great that Cooz met with the teams. Good to hear the players comments as well. Glad Togo and RP Sr. were there also.

Several surprising things in this article:"Junior guards Katie Doherty and Tricia Byrne admitted that they didn’t even realize Cousy was still alive." Wow - just, wow."The six-time NBA champion had never before spoken to a Holy Cross team." Unbelievable! So glad it has happened now. ADNP, you are working wonders.
"Fellow HC legends Togo Palazzi, Ron Perry Sr. and Rev. Earle Markey also were on hand in addition to Fouracre and HC radio announcer Dick Lutsk." That is quite a pantheon. Good for them! The best part: "Cousy complimented the HC men, telling them that he thought their unexpected run to the Patriot League championship last season and winning the college’s first NCAA Tournament game since 1953 created the most excitement for the program since the 1947 championship. “We got to see how much he cares about the program,” senior forward Rob Champion said, “and how much he cares about us.” Cousy told the Crusaders that their Patriot League victory got him to jump out of his chair. “The fact that we were able to inspire him,” Champion said, “and he said it made an impact on him by what we were able to do, it definitely gives us even more motivation to go out there and try to do it again this year.” I love the reaction of the players. They understand the connection. This is SO important! Go Cross!

"Living Legend" is overused.......but not when it comes to the Cooz.

Awesome, thanks HCFC45! Wonder if the teams have actually checked out his highlights. I watch a lot of the old sports stuff out there, and many of the players in the old basketball highlights look stiff - straight up and down, left and right, very little use of both hands (kinda like those old electric football games I remember having as a kid). Cooz, on the other hand, always looked so fluid......like he was years ahead of his time. One of my few "accomplishments" in life is sharing the same birthday.

Unbelievable....a wizard. Not as a point guard, but as a ball handler, Pistol Pete came closest.

One big difference was that for most of his career, Pete was more style and stats over substance

One big difference was that for most of his career, Pete was more style and stats over substance Unlike Bob Cousy, Pete did not make those around him into better players. They were there just to get him the ball for his shot.

I agree about the differences. That's what I meant when I said he was no point guard.
