Texas Austin and Michigan Ann Arbor both announced significant layoffs this week in their athletic Dept. With only 4 teams on campus and no other students wouldn’t you think HC would be making cost saving moves

Perhaps HC is making those cuts

And perhaps the main reason Renee Ricciuti of the ticket office is no longer employed by Holy Cross. There are some people here that didn't think she belonged anyway being she had no Holy Cross background and, heaven forbid, was from Rhode Island. Rhode Island?! Don't look now but Dave Berard is from the Ocean State!

The college/university "entertainment business" is indeed costly, isn't it?

Not to bust your dialogue, but to be accurate, Renee is from West Chester, Pennsylvania, not Rhode Island.

My friend, this is all predicated on your definition of "from."
If you thought Renee was commuting from Pennsylvania to Worcester, I have a bridge to sell you. She was residing and commuting from RI to Worcester when she was working at HC and, thus, "from Rhode Island." I knew she went to school in PA. There are some who felt that since she was "from Rhode Island" and wasn't living in Worcester, how could she understand the landscape of the College?
As you well know, I am a native New Yorker but have lived in Rhode Island for 20+ years. I will always be a New Yorker, more specifically, a Long Islander, but I am now "from Rhode Island."
Bottom line: I shouldn't have even brought it up.

I know nothing factual, but I bet HC Career Services is making all their resources and staff available for anyone like Renee. It's going back decades, but I was in a Service Organization with a young professional who left HC after a couple of years and took a position at Brandeis that had a little more responsibility and a paid a tiny bit more. She was shocked at how much more supportive the family atmosphere at HC for employees was compared to Brandeis. And this is not a subliminal antiSemetic dig. After Brandeis she went to State Mutual Insurance, now Hanover Insurance, and the comparison to HC was even worse.

Trying to make amends to Renee who always was very helpful to me, within the limits of her job, she is "seeking employment" if anyone has a position for which she may be qualified. Here's her LinkedIn profile: /

My last conversation with her regarding renewing my tickets, she was calling from PA. At least that is what my Iphone told me. But to paraphrase, “Who am I to determine where someone is from”. 😁😷 I also hope that Renee finds a new job soon. I was disappointed to find out she is no longer at HC. Unfortunately without tickets being sold this year, the job of ticket manager was not needed. Glad you and family are well!

These days location indicators may not be always accurate as noted, my daughter’s cell phone still has a Bay Area code, but she now lives in the Pacific Northwest, but in her case the number is saved and customized, so it provides her name. Also phones numbers are spoofed, particularly calls from boiler room call centers.
Regarding Renee, I know definitely she was calling from West Chester PA, when we discussed season ticket renewals. Her location was one of the topics of our conversation as I was expecting another call from that town outside of Philadelphia.

Wait until you start dealing with the HC ticket office working from their homes in Bangalore! Could happen, right or wrong.
