Hoops, I am with you on this one. Jack was talented and exciting (for more than one great BC game!).

Hoops, I am with you on this one. Jack was talented and exciting (for more than one great BC game!). That's the truth. I recall one game in '66 there was a play near the other team's goal line where the whole HC team moved to the right along with the entire opposition. Meanwhile, Lentz put the ball on his hip and waltzed into the end zone. There wasn't a player within about 20 feet of him when he scored

There wasn't a player within about 20 feet of him when he scored John Gorter’67 (RiP), an offensive lineman on Jack’s teams, told me that Jack would call a sweep right to a running back. Then with the whole HC line moving right, Jack would keep the ball and run a naked reverse.to the left. He did this more than once for a TD.

John told me the same with an expletive; For '66, his senior season, John was moved from middle linebacker to left tackle. He was recognized with one of the Boston sports writers awards that season.
On the '63 freshman team I believe Jack Lentz wore #19 for his home town idol Johnny U. He perfected the bootleg play his soph season, '64, when we had two outstanding tackles, Jay Duggan & John Mee. Preseason '65, Jack was injured and didn't play; he pass up a red shirt year to sign with the Denver Broncos. There is at least one other '67 who declined a red shirt for the '67 season.

Not sure is this was covered on another thread, but the great Jay Dugan I think you are referencing, and father to two HC gridiron stars, recently passed away.

Pelletier was number 16 on the football team ,who also punted. Thanks for confirming that number. Wide Receiver, defensive back, and punter, Richie did it all. I can't believe I remembered his number. He also had a vicious slap shot as a Crusader skater

This is a good account of the game, better than one that I saw in a Boston paper, whose tone seemed to express resentment that the Eagles had been defeated.
