First Offer for 2022: Dewey is a 6'1 F/C
Samantha Dewey • 6’1 • Pos: F/C • Melrose/Rivals – Dewey is a strong and mobile post player that can impact the game in many different ways. She does a good job of sealing in the post and making strong back to the basket moves both right and left. Additionally, Dewey is more than capable of knocking down midrange and 3 point shots. She sets solid balls screens and rolls with a purpose. On the defensive end, she does a good job of staying straight up in the post and deterring shots without fouling. Dewey sprints the floor hard in transition.

Aggressive recruiting from coach magarity but I’m wondering just how good this one is with 2 years of HS play ahead of her - anyone out there with info on other schools that she was involved with - we can agree you can’t coach size and 6’2” is nice to see

I look forward to the day when I can get to an HC Women's BB game and will have to look UP to see the faces of the HC women players. I am doing all I can to help with that (dropping from 5'10" to just over 5'9").

Unfortunately, Meg apparently is not one who regularly posts info on her recruiting, for that matter she did not post her offer from HC. Her HS team, St. John-Vianney is a regular power house and there are at least 3 other players on her team that are likely D1 players, including Katie Hill, '21 a Richmond commit. I do take some comfort from the thought that the last player who committed prior to the start of her junior campaign turned out pretty well - Ashley McLaughlin.

Here's a record of Megan's activity during the 2019-2020 season. highschoolsports.nj.com/player/megan-cahalanAs you can see, the team lost only one game, and many of the games seemed to have been substantial routs. Megan's numbers are not in the "out of this world" category but for a young player on a team that probably played its subs for substantial portions of many games, they seem to be quite adequate.

Well, my question about the level of D.1 interest in Megan was answered in that article - congrats to Coach Magarity as it appears she’s ramping up the talent level at HC with these last two signings - the piece talks about the closeness of the Munt and Cahalan families and the St. John Vianney team - a great ‘package’ deal for us
