Tonight's Mass for Ignatius of Loyola was well done (via ZOOM). The priests and chaplains did it quite well.
I counted 13 Jesuits present. Is that now the size of the entire Jesuit community at Holy Cross?

Is that now the size of the entire Jesuit community at Holy Cross? I had heard last year it was down to 17, and shrinking, hence the plan for a new and smaller Jesuit residence on top of the hill. The community now numbers 14, with two in their mid-upper 80s (Markey and Lapamorda), and one who has no bio, so may be a transient. If you counted 13, then I would guess one of the last three is no longer a member, or was unable to be there.

Ciampi Hall is 34,800 square feet. With 14 Jesuits, that's nearly 2500 feet per Jesuit.

In North Jersey, there are no longer brothers at Bergen Catholic or St Joseph Regional. A good part of my Holy Cross experience was so good because of the "Jebbies" themselves. Those are memories I treasure.

Those are memories I treasure. faculty.fairfield.edu/jesuits/community.htmlThe Jesuit community at Fairfield numbers 14, several teach at Fairfield Prep, one is a full professor at Yale. At both Holy Cross and Fairfield, I find it notable that their ranks are so few (non-existent) in the classics, philosophy departments which should be their strengths given their background and training, and so very have doctorates in subjects other than sacred theology, or the like. ^^^ This page on the Jesuit community at Fordham is, of course, dated, given that the New York province no longer exists per se. About 25 percent of the Jesuit community are associated with the university or Fordham Prep. (I assume there are others associated with Regis, etc.) I would daresay that there are probably as many in the infirmary and retirement residences as there are at the university.

Crucis, thanks for citing those. I was unaware that the Maryland and Northeast provinces were being combined into a single super-province. I assume other U.S. provinces are being consolidated as well. The Pilot article helps date the Fordham 'census', as the New York province was merged into the newly formed Northeast province in 2014.
