Not much else to talk about with regards to NE college football right now outside of recruiting.
It will be interesting....BC being one of the few non-Southern schools that is right now still preparing to play, Massachusetts has been one of the tougher states (it seems) with regards to Covid etc

Need a couple more options:
---Yes, and I hope they lose every game
---Who cares?

LOL....while I don't disagree, I just think it will be an interesting story/development moving forward. No other college or high school football in Massachusetts this Fall, will Massachusetts allow BC to play?
Millions of dollars to BC for ACC televised rights.
Be interesting to see what prevails.

I believe that BC will play, if the state says NO, they will probably plan all their games on the road. Money talks.

BC has had tremendous success with keeping their team free from the virus so far. It almost seems a shame to expose the kids to the NDs and UNCs who have not been as safe so far. When the NCAA said no post season championship, I don't think that has any bearing on the independent non profit bowl games who might want to hold a game this season. We should go back to the AP picking the national champion this year after the bowl games. I wouldn't punish a team who plays this year just because Alabama and Ohio State won't play.

You might have conferences make agreements to have their champions play bowl games against one another and then pick a site for that game. No one has mentioned conference championship games. I would guess that at least a few of them are presumably still on.

NC State has suspended Fall Athletics due to a cluster on campus.
RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State has temporarily paused all athletic-related activities due to an identified cluster within its programs. NC State Athletics will continue to follow all established protocols in consultation with campus and local health officials. "Based on the information available to us, we are making the necessary and swift decision to pause athletic-related activities until we have additional information," said Director of Athletics Boo Corrigan. "We will continue to work with all appropriate parties to evaluate the most responsible path moving forward and will provide further details when available."

I roll my eyes when somebody is in senior leadership like an AD and they are still using their childhood nickname like "Boo" or "Lefty" or "Moose" in official statements on serious subjects.

My best memory after intretrviewin g for the Crusader was learning his reaction when the citizens of Worcester presented him with a purse of Gold Coins at the pitchers. mound before a game in his senior year. I bet Alabama's fans have never done that (only a few cars and homes and high paying no-show jobs).

Boston College has the resources and the will to test their athletes accordingly.
What has the football team had, 1 positive test since June?
It is more than safe to play. To think otherwise is naive.

Caught some highlights of the Duke game and noted BC wearing the throw back unis. Always liked those. Maybe the new coach wanted them....

I like the general look but hate Under Armour uniforms. Numbers are too small, in particular on the front; and on both sides they ten to "roll up" so you can't see the numbers well. Attachments:bc uni.webp (44.7 KB)

Holy Cross professor of sports economics Victor Matheson is quoted in this article that appeared in the Boston Globe: "When ticket sales (not this year, of course), sponsorships, merchandising, and donor contributions are added, BC is “probably generating at least $50 million a year” off its football program, said Holy Cross professor of sports economics Victor Matheson. Those funds go a long way toward subsidizing the school’s sizable athletic program." When I read stuff like this, it makes me dream about what might have been possible in an alternative universe where we did not decide to transition to 1-AA those many years ago.

We didn't decide to transition to I-AA, we had to by rule. Fitton Field did not meet the stadium size requirements and attendance at Fitton did not meet the average attendance requirements.
Same was true for the Ivys - at least as far as attendance was concerned - and so they became I-AA as well.

If these stipulations still exist, they are no longer followed. i.e. no one gets "kicked out" of FBS and to "move up" you need to be invited to a conference unless your school is named Liberty University and can claim religious discrimination....or something.
