Nice opening weekend for Army and Navy. Army plays at home at 1:30 today v Middle Tennessee and Navy hosts BYU at 8:00 on Monday.
No, it is not national power football (next week Notre Dame, Clemson, etc.) but it is a good start to the season for those of us who enjoy watching the Academies play.
Air Force will be playing Navy and Army later in the season but, given the Mountain West decisions, those will be the only games Air Force plays.
(Edited Navy/BYU start time...thanks purplehaze)

Cadets, not allowed to leave campus, will be in attendance, but no other fans are allowed
The U.S. Military Academy, however, is federal property under federal jurisdiction, granting it the latitude to allow cadets to take to the stands for Army's home games in spite of state restrictions

West Point will have its hands full given Middle Tennessee's QB and new running backs. Should be a great game. But Navy is the one I'm most looking forward to watching. Even with Perry gone.

Totally agree here - any college football is so much better than none - believe the navy /BYU game starts at 8 Monday night

Army 42-0 final In looking at their schedule - they pieced together a full 12 games including 8 at Michie stadium - 3 fcs opponents, Abilene Christian , Citadel and Mercer - good job by their AD

Middle's QB isn't any good. He couldn’t do much at all. West Point ran (and I mean ran) their offense right through Middle Tennessee, dominated the clock, and took away 4 turnovers. Stuff I read (and the announcers to start the game BTW() said the kid was a real good 2-way threat: Asher O'Hara was Conference USA's most prolific player on offense a season ago, and more of the same will be asked of him in 2020. O'Hara led the conference (and was 13th in the FBS) with 306.2 total yards per game, averaging 218.0 through the air and another 88.2 on the ground. He tallied 20 passing touchdowns and an additional nine rushing scores, both of which led the team and were good enough for fourth in Conference USA. For the Blue Raiders to match — let alone improve on — last season's middle-of-the-pack scoring productivity (26.3 points per game) this season, O'Hara will likely be shouldering most of the load once again after finishing as the team's leading rusher last season. (Athlon, FWIW, had Army by 4. ) athlonsports.com/college-football/middle-tennessee-blue-raiders-vs-army-west-point-black-knights-prediction-picks-2020Great to see college football! (Feel bad for Air Force...could be a very odd 2-game season)

Ouch. Maybe Army and Navy needed to swap opponents for the opening weekend.

I havent seen Navy look that bad on offense since 2002, before Paul Johnson took over.
I remember they got shut out badly by UCONN that year which was the Huskies 3rd or 4th season in I-A.

Bill Belichick's phone interview was a hell of a lot better than the game.

Just read that Navy had 'zero' live (i.e. tackle) practices this pre-season as their concern of keeping players safe was a priority - that's fine but when you have BYU coming in, it's a recipe for disaster and that's exactly what happened. This is a dilemma for college coaches all around this country and I think the conclusion is that you can't be half-in if you want to play - shortcuts don't work when it comes to D.1 football

I wonder if they are doing any tackling this week in preparation for their next game.

Thought Dartmouth and subsequently all/most Ivies only practiced tackling those remote mobile tackling dummies. None against “real” players. How would this be different for Navy?
