anybody have stats on the Board about usage this year vs previous ones.
My impression is that posts are way down.

Take away HC70's 100-150 posts a day and numbers will certainly be down. Where is he, anyway? Hope all is well with him.

No politics, football team stinks, some prolific posters not here. Hopefully things heat up during BBall season when we crack the Top 25.

The board is also still in its infancy stage compared to the previous one.
Basketball, which clearly brings the most traffic to the board, is still a month or so away.

nycrusader2010- HC70's fine. He's been banned from this forum for life. He'll be flying to Columbia, SC, for the bball game vs. S. Carolina and then fly to Syracuse for the bball game a few days later. I daresay that among alums that live far from Worcester, he has attended more HC sports games over the years (including baseball games) than any other alum. If anybody has purple in his veins he does. IMHO, it's a shame what's been done to him. I'd better shut up before I get myself in trouble.

HC70 has every right to post on the Board

I'm really enjoying the new board---we are having productive give and take on a broad array of HC issues and opportunities. I hope that missing posters do find us, of course.

70 is out there somewhere -- pining for that men's basketball holiday couplet with Furman and Wofford. And maybe a regular-season tilt with Assumption too!

I tracked the stats on posts, number of posters, etc on the old board, so looking at the last full year (July 21, 2014 - July 20, 2015) I have data for ...
On the old board, we had 1563 members as of July 21, 2015 and about 160 of them averaged at least 1 post a week
We currently have 180 registered users here.
So I'd say, membership here is likely close to having the majority of active posters back.
In the 11 full years of posts on the old board (July 21 2004 - July 20, 2015) we average 111 posts a day!
This board went live on April 21, 2016.
In the 5+ months since - 4 of which are typically the slowest months of the year - this board has averaged a bit more than 53 posts a day.
So yeah, we're running a bit behind, but ...
In the last full year on the old board,
HC70 averaged 20 posts a day.
There was also an average of over 21 posts a day on the General Discussion Board and I'd guess conservatively 75% were politics, so call it 16 posts a day.
So take away 36 posts a day from the old average and you're at about 75 a day. And we have not deducted the inevitable responses HC70's posts generated.
So yes, at this point, traffic is down, but I expect things to surge as basketball season cranks up.

8485, are you moderating things over in these parts?

I help out and was a beta tester back in January, but moderating has nothing to do with it. All the information is located near the bottom of the main page of the message board or on the member list. Old board worked the same way.
When the Exco Board was approaching its first anniversary, I went and compiled all the data for the first year's use and like breezy & football recruiting, I just continuted to do it.
Happy to turn it over to anyone interested in doing it!

For whatevah reason, find myself posting less here (to the delight of many I'm sure) than the old board. Nothing against the board or its users.....the new one is great...as others have noted, we have been in sort of a slow period since it became active this Spring. I think it will heat up soon as football continues to spiral downward and hoop starts up.

Cl Metsfan has had his wings clipped as well...he still posts but politics (liberal, but let's not get into that) was his bread-and-butter.

posts will increase once basketball season starts.
while the traffic might be slightly down, the civil tone of the new board is infinitely better. this is the way it was for the first 10 years or so of our existence and it's great that the civility has returned.

Totally agree with dadominate....and I love the feature where you can block certain folks!! Makes for a more enjoyable visit -- although probably no one will see this as a result of the feature!

Disagree on the "ignore feature". Wouldn't even be necessary if everyone just took the HC92 pledge from the old forum.
