Looks like a good get, and Plan A among 2021 PGs. Coached by ex-HC guard, Tom Nelson
Welcome to Holy Cross, Kyrell!

HC offered Luc last December - he got subsequent offers from BU, FDU, Towson, American, Cleveland State, Fairfield, and Milwaukee.

Fact book says Tom Nelson, his coach, played in 97-98-99. Did he play much? Two of those years Raynor was the coach, the third year was RW.
Long way of me saying I don't remember the guy at all. Then again, I've done my best to forget those years; IMHO only last year was as bad as those years.

Looks like point guard should be solidified for a few years with Johnson and Luc. From highlights Luc is very athletic with a few dunks despite being only 5'10. He's a lefty who appears to have a nice stroke and good range, takes the ball to the basket well and finishes with either hand. Good job by the staff filling a big need.

The future is bright!
Love that this was an early target/offer by Nelson, his list of offers continued to grow, and HC was able to close the deal.
We also may be the beneficiary of a lack of opportunities for other programs to evaluate Luc due to COVID this Spring/Summer, which along with his offer list that continued to grow despite the circumstances, could mean Nelson found a great piece for the future of the program.

From December’s Scholar Roundball Classic:
Kyrell Luc, Brimmer & May – Cut from a similar cloth, Luc is undersized but possesses a big game. In fact, he looks to be one of the most improved junior guards in New England to start the year. Saturday’s 31-point performance was just the latest example of the growth of his game. Always a high-level athlete, Luc isn’t just bouncy at the rim but quick to his spots off the dribble and able to create his own offense on demand.

Have you seen him play or is this statement based only on the highlight tapes ?

Welcome Kyrell!
My only question is...2 years from now, who will be #1 on the depth chart, KL or RJJ? They'll only be a year apart. Hoping CBN can make it work to get the best out of both of them.

Jave and Torey played together at times. If both Johnson and Luc deserve minutes, they most likely will get them. If Johnson has a solid freshman season, he probably would be initially at the top of the depth chart.

Nice to have a kid from the Hub on board. I love the quote from his coach that he is the hardest working and most sincere kid he has coached. Welcome aboard!

If he and RJ are as good as we hope they are, I’m sure we can find a way to get them both on the floor. Both seem like high character guys which I love.

Does his play remind you of any other HC players?
The dunks are amazing for a 5-10 guy

I cannot think of any HC player his size who could jump like that. Torey T. was probably as quick, but did not leap like Luc. Anthony Thompson was straight ahead quick, but I never saw him dunk. The most athletic player not named Jehyve was Eric Green, but he was 6’4”. Actually Drew Lowder was exceptionally quick, but I never saw him dunk. He was listed at 6’, but was not that tall.

The highlight film didn't show blazing acceleration like Torey had, but his leaping is amazing. Those dunks are not just awkward tries that barely go in at the end of his fingertips just to say he can dunk.

Reading posts here, I was starting to wonder about future recruits. This "get" is most reassuring! It was also nice that HC seems to have gotten the best of Fairfield. (I guess I still feel a bit bad that the. Stags seemed too have targeted our point guard last year.)

Looking at his clips, he reminds me of Calvin Murphy of Niagara. Similar style, speed and leaping ability.
(CM Trivia - Murphy did not get a basketball scholarship to attend Niagra. What was his scholarship for and how did he meet that commitment?)
